| Mio A702 GPS PDAPhone with SiRF3 - Pictures and clarification on SiRFDiRect |

Updated October 29th, 2007 The launch of the Mio C620 last week in Paris was also a good opportunity to get a close look at Mio's upcoming GPS PDAphone, the A702, that will take over from the A701/A501/A502, and for side by side pictures with the HTC Kaiser/Tilt/TyTN II.
The Mio A702 will be the first mobile device to be equipped with SiRFDiRect a sensor based (gyro+accelerometer) mobile dead reckoning system designed to improved accuracy in challenging urban environments. While there was some hope originally that the sensors would be on the device it is now confirmed that they will be located on the car holder, which makes sense, but means that we'll have to wait a bit longer for "PersonalDR" to guide us in dense urban areas on foot. Posted June 6th, 2007 - After bringing high-sensitivity to the consumer market with SiRFstarIII in 2005, off-line Assisted GPS with SiRFinstantFix in 2006, SiRF has just announced SiRFDiRect, a sensor based technology to improve GPS accuracy on mobile devices in challenging environments...
...While the user experience has been greatly improved with high-sensitivity chipsets (SiRFstarIII in 2005 and now MTK, Nemerix v3, uBlox), the problem of accuracy in challenging environment remains, particularly for pedestiran use, as can be seen in my recent Barcelona test run. Judging by the improvements shown on the new Mio A702 GPS PDAPhone, we're in for a treat !
