New Mio GPS : Moov V780 with Spirit, WiFi, YouTube
Posté le 02 mars 2010 à 15:02:00 par gpspassion. EN - "All in One" Solutions

Updated March 2nd, 2010
The CeBIT show is underway in Hanover, Germany and some GPS companies are launching new systems. Mio is making a splash with the Moov V780 a real "all in one" with GPS, Entertainment (720p movies, TV, YouTube) and Connectivity (WiFi or 3G or WiMax for Email).

While this sounds impressive on paper, let's keep in mind that similar devices have failed on the market, such as the Clarion Mind, and that the GPS engine of the V780 is "Spirit" a revamped version of the Navman software bought by Mitac in 2007 and that failed to impress on the Spirit range launched in 2009. You can use the Mio Moov V780 - GPS and more started by Jim1348 in the "GPS and Mobile News" forums.

Updated September 28th, 2007 - More picture geotagging news with the announcement this week of the Mio C720, a C520 that packs a 2MP digital camera for picture geocoding on the fly. While this is convenient as seen on the Navman AIOs with NavPix, the...

... low quality of the pictures gets in the way, especially when the post-geocoding process is now quite simple if you follow the guide maintained on the site.

Of more practical interest, the Mio C230 is an entry-level system that offers TTS (Text To Speech) for guidance with street name pronunciation, a feature generally offered by Garmin and TomTom on high end systems. It is priced at $189 at Semsons with 10% off for GpsPasSion Club members.

Posted May 16th, 2005 - Here's a scoop with the first picture of the new Mio 169 * mobile terminal by Mio. It will be replacing the Mio 168 as it is a full featured PocketPC running Windows Mobile 2003SE (before a move to WM5.0?) but it takes after the features that made such a success of the "all-in-one" devices. This is notable with the appearance of the...

... dual portrait/landscape operating modes, a jog shuttle for volume adjustment and easy access to the navigation program. Likely due to the observations made by users of the current generation of devices, the screen has been designed to offer better daylight visibility (a return to the reflective screens of the iPaq 36/37xx ?) and it houses a larger battery for more untethered use.

I should be able to find out more about this device at Computex at the end of the month, so stay tuned for more ! * Model number to be confirme
