| Rick, they're really not speed limits here either. Simply suggestions. :) |

| Strange that there is no speed limit data for Canada. I used to have a Nexxtar which used Navteq maps. It had an speed limit option, if you were 10% over the posted limit it would alert you. I tried it on many routes and it seemed to have the correct information, especially with the 90 km/h to 70 or 50 drops when you are coming through town, on byways. I guess Navteq has the information but garmin never bought it? |

I have never seen an explanation as to "why", but their knowledge base says the following: ______________________________________________________________
Where is the speed limit indicator available?
12/01/2010
The speed limit feature provides a visual indicator of the speed limit for a particular road on the map of the device
This feature is available on most major roads in the following areas:
* Europe * United States * Australia * Middle East * Southern Africa * Greece * Turkey
* Please note this feature is not available in Canada |

Help.... I did an update (not the map yet) on my 3790 and now when I turn it on it starts up and gets stuck on the 'loading maps' screen.
I tried a soft reset and nothing. I have attempted a hard reset but cannot get the screen to come up. Yes, I push on the lower right corner AFTER the copyright symbol comes up.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Messing with a map I'm making, I got my 3790 stuck in a loop constantly rebooting and it wouldn't go into USB mode. After sitting on the "loading maps" screen, it would crash and reboot everytime. This worked for me... press and hold (hard!) the power button when the "loading maps" screen appears. This should give you the message "turn off the device?". You may have to try a couple times to time it just right.
I then pressed the "cancel" button and the unit completed a normal boot WITHOUT LOADING ANY MAPS (the myMaps screen was blank). At this point I was able to plug into the computer and enter USB disk mode. I then deleted the bad map file. I don't know what might be wrong with your unit, but a corrupted map file could be a possibility. If you have a backup, you could try copying gmapprom.img into the .system folder.
If you can get the unit into USB disk mode, I'd suggest that the FIRST thing you do is backup the entire device before trying anything else. |

Hi. I am experiencing a significant improvment in the route calculation speed, on my 3790 with 3.90 fw and nt europe 2011.40 maps (trafficTrend enabled). Anyone else ?
Edit: Mhhh It seems that even if i have TrafficTrend enabled, they aren't taken in consideration during route calculation anymore |

Thanks ddabcd277 and Boyd. Boyd--kept trying your suggestions but couldn't get that screen. Ddabcd277 - I feel uncomfortable doing your suggestion.
Thanks very much. Any other suggestions? Thanks again. |

Can't think of anything else sorry, maybe CS can suggest something else.
Here's a suggestion for a future update (or rather a new GPS the way Garmin adds features) : an option to show the profile of a route on GPS sytems equipped with DEM terrain files. It would have been very useful for me this week-end when I-17 between Sedona and Flagstaff was closed after a snow storm and I had to figure out a way to get to Winslow...I ended up choosing 260 (I knew it climbed from 3500 to 7000ft having driven it the other way round two days before) and 87 but I was dismayed to find out that 87 varied between 7000 and 7500ft for miles on end with snow and ice on the road! Probably would have still picked that route but it would have been nice to know what to expect. |

Thanks gpspassion. Customer service wanted me to hook it up to USB and download webupdater and also do a hard reset. This was after I told them I can't get the computer to recognize it and no matter how often I tried to do a hard reset I couldn't get the screen to cooperate. Their solution was to send it back.
All this is a result of updating a voice file that the webupdater told me was available. So much for that. |

| I also noticed the lines all over the map image with the prompted routing option. I tested making a route from Rochester, NY to Boston, MA. That was long enough for them to show up. |

| Sorry that didn't work for you. But my problem was a bad map file... Maybe you have an issue with the unit firmware? Or a corrupted voice file? |

I've perused all 76 pages but was unable to find any info on: (1)Has anyone been able to establish which chipset is in the 3790 and/or (2)Come up with a way to Edit or ADD to categories which Voice Command will recognize? |

(1) GPS is MT3328, you can see it in hidden tracklog files in bin format.
