It also has this incredibly annoying "feature" of forcing the rider to hit a button to acknowledge the legal BS screen before it will load the GPS.

Rainman,

Here is something you might want to consider.

Hello everyone,
I ride the same GL1800 motorcycle as Rainman, but i live in Europe. The motorcycle is imported from USA so i have a problem with the language.

My GPS unit runs a v.4.5 (or 4.6) firmware version, but only speak in English and labels on the screen are only in english. European version of GPS unit runs a v.2.6 firmware version, that can switch between 7 languages. Installing the v.2.6 European firmware as is, the GPS unit runs and can show labels in 7 different languages, but is mute. Thi is the problem...

The only file I have is gupdate.gcd. Opening it with RGN_Tools (in both v.2.3, v.4.31, v.4.5, v.4.6) i see
- boot.bin (section 0800, RGN Region 0C)
- fw_all.bin (section BD02, RGN_Region 0E)

Can anyone pls drive me to have GPS unit speaking in italian?
Thanks in advance

Regards
Carlo

Welcome to the forum balljung.

I have altered the link to the 2 pictures you posted in your post above. These were to large and distorted the whole page for this thread, causing other users to have to scroll the screen left and right in order to see a full line of text.

You are welcome to resize your pictures following the procedures outlined in http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12223 and edit your orginal post accordingly.

Thank you.
