A:
Actual easy accurate individual track point selection is possible in Track segment "Point list" by using the arrow keys (Up Down or Left Right)
Request: Similar trackpoint selection even on longer high density tracks, by the same arrow keys, browsing from trkpt to trkpt, with autocentering map around selected trackpoint, and coupled to the bottom pane cursor, to "Plant a Waypoint" as the exact copy of this selected trackpoint

B:
Settings -> csv options: SET use comma and point instead of semi-colon and comma.
Is not apllied to the first row, as keeps using the semi-colon and comma.

Hello:

Is the maintainer still watching this forum? If so I have a few suggestions for the GPX Editor.

I like this software it is very similar to another software I was using for a few years but seems to be discontinued now. I think the similarity comes from the Google API and the usual way of interfacing with it.

Using the GPX editor for a few days now and I have encountered some issues.

1. Please keep the map centered on the current location when zooming or changing from map to preview. As it is now when zooming the center point keeps changing and if you switch from preview to map or vice versa the location you are viewing is lost as is the current zoom level. Very annoying to have to keep recentering the map and resetting the zoom.

2. in preview show a dot for the track points. As it is now it is just track lines and when editing a track it is sometimes difficult to see where the points are and where the track will break when editing.

3. Allow the editing tools to be persistent until they are changed to another tool. As it is now if I select a tool it goes away after I use it once and requires me to select it again.

4. Offer a properties function for the tracks that can show the total distance of the track and number of points.

Just a few things.... with just a little bit of polish this can be a fine editor. I am looking forward to using it if the issues can be addressed...

Thank you!

Sorry the preview and map view are managed too different to link them that way (different API, different projection).

Working on it, but I think you will find it equally difficult to see, bu it was an easy modification (next version will have an addition option to enable this).

This needs a lot of work, I'll try, but no promises.

You can have the distance by going in the track properties and clicking [Telemetry]. I'll add the number of points.

New version : https://sourceforge.net/projects/gpxeditor/files/GPX%20Editor/Version%201.06.18/

- CSV header should take the separator option into account
- Fixed "incompatible browser" message in google map (for now), which doesn't seem to like IE 9 anymore.
- Option to show the individual points of tracks/route in preview
- Added point count in telemtry data

Hello!

Good to hear from you so quickly! :)

Please try to take a look at this GPX editor:

http://www.dmv.net/RideLeader_v2.09_setup.exe

It is very similar to yours but the Google Maps part is broken now because the software has not been updated in over 4 years and is no longer compatible with the API.

The software I linked above can do it... I am not sure of the mechanisms but should it not be as simple as providing a coordinate and starting zoom level to the API? The problem I encounter is when editing a track I need to switch between the track itself for editing/removing points and the map to see if it is following what I want to follow. It really disturbs the smooth workflow to have to start again from the fully zoomed out world map every time.

The other software does not do this by default, it simply highlights the track point nearest to the cursor. That is better than nothing but sometimes it can be cumbersome, especially if there are multiple tracks on the screen. Much better I think if all of the points are visible, and making it an option to display is good.

I really hope this is possible... it isn't a huge problem, but is a bit frustrating and really hinders a smooth workflow.

Ah yes I see that now... it was greyed out for the track segments, but is accessible for the overall track.

It is possible to have these properties show for the segments also? Distance and points is really all that is necessary. The other software shows it if you hover the cursor over the track segment but that is not necessary. If there can be a properties for the segment that is sufficient.

On a related topic is it possible to add a setting for miles or kilometers? If it is already there I did not see it...

Thank you for your efforts on this GPX editor! I really do like it. Also, thank you for your consideration of my requests!

Hello again! I have a gpx file that contains 119 tracks (78Mb) and when I add one more and try to save the file it errors with "insufficient memory" but my system has 16Gb so should be able to deal with this file. This file is for creating a full spider map of all my unique bike routes. Perhaps this software isn't designed to cope with such large files but is there a way to allow large files like this? Thank you!

(en anglais pour que tout le monde en profite)

Hello,

Maybe those issues have been raised higher in the thread.

I used the latest and greatest (GPX_Editor_1_06_18.zip) and noticed the following issues:

1. It deletes Windows' proxy setting. I happen to use Privoxy as a web filter, and have to re-add it every time I used GPX Editor

https://s26.postimg.org/jmhlfxyvd/GPX.Editor.proxy.png

2. In the lefthand-side list, can't select multiple waypoints and delete them in one go

3. After deleting waypoint, still displayed on map :-/

4. App doesn't support drag 'n dropping file: Must use CTRL+O

5. In LH-side list, doesn't support renaming waypoints through F2

6. When selecting a waypoint in LH-side list, doesn't show where it's located in map

7. Make it possible to export as KML for those apps like Maps.me (Android) that don't understand GPX.

If those issues were solved, it'd be a great, lighter alternative to JOSM to edit GPX files.

Cheers,

Report:
- If <ele> is 0 "gpx editor" removes the <ele> attribute. Gpx editor also rejects 0 meter elevation level indication at a trkpt edit.
- CSV header should take the separator option into account. = (;) = Not solved.

Hi Pixel K.
In Settings->Google Maps->Put a dot on the map if a trackpoint has a symbol.
Request: Add same into routepoints.
In Settings->Google Maps->Put a dot on the map if a route/trackpoint has a symbol.
Tnks.
