I tried doing it exactly as you said, but it doesn't seem to see the sd card....

When I click on the file folder picture the existing path that was set before disappears, but no files from the sd card are shown, so I can't select the path. Also, at the top of the screen, where it says 'device' I have a symbol of a closed padlock, which I take to mean something is locked....(the sd card is not locked, by the way)

Maybe I should put it in the trash, like you did........

Hello guys!
In my case the impossibillity of setteing the path was all because of a loose cable to the SD-card reader inside the unit. It is a flat cable that should be set in a connector with a type of clip lock, I pushed it down gently and re-locked the connector. Problem solved :-)

It does look as though it's the sd reader at fault. I have taken the ribbon cable off and reinserted it, but makes no difference. Maybe the cable itself is broken....but where to get a replacement ?

Can someone look at their navigate setup menu, and tell me if they have a closed padlock symbol at the top of the screen.....

EDIT:
I just tested the ribbon cable with a meter and it looks ok, so I think the sd reader must have stopped working....which means I'm stuffed...

Looks like the bin for this unit.............

blankers, What is the model of your Erisin? Did you get it on ebay? You may be able to contact the seller and get some tech help. They worked with me for several days through emails to try and solve my steering wheel control problems. There is already some of that contact info on one of the forums on here. I would check all the external and internal connectors first. The connectors on mine were not that well built and was difficult to get good, solid connections that would stay. I will check my navigation setup and see about the padlock. Seems like I remember a pic of a padlock. They will replace the unit if you send it back to them but it was too costly for me to consider that. Hope you can get to the problem and solve it. I will post if I think of anything else.

blankers, Look on page 1 of this forum and get that contact info and try to see if you can get some tech help from some of them. Try that Rich Lin first. He worked a lot as a go-between with his tech dept and forwarded me a lot of info. If you explain in detail the problem you are having they should work with you to get it solved. There is a solution and the unit is worth trying to save.

blankers, I tried to get into the files on my unit and it won't let me in. I guess, since mine is operating right now, I guess that it won't let me get to the files and folders to set a pathway. I got on the GPS function and clicked on settings. Under setting, I clicked on the GPS icon and the screen that came up said: GPS Driver is successfully connected. Below that it said: GPS Enabled with a check mark, Port: 2, Baud rate: 4800. I then clicked on the Navigation icon under settings and the screen that came up said: Keep position on Road: check mark, Off Route Recalculation: check mark, Restore Lock-to-position: 30 sec., Overview Mode: box is unchecked. My unit uses the Wince6 operating system. There may be a way to get in to the OS files but I'm not that computer savy. Hope you get yours working again. How long did your navigation work before it stopped working? Do you have any idea why it stopped working? Does everything else on the unit work?

650savag,

Thanks for the info.

My unit is ES982GB. I bought it in oct 2011 from one of the erisin ebay sites (I think they have several). Because it was over 30 days ago, it doesn't show in my ebay purchases any more so I can't contact them this way.

It was fitted and working fine in my car for a couple of months till I sold the car. Only just got round to fitting it in my new car, and the problem appeared as soon as I powered it up again.

I think you can't see the files because you are going straight to the gps program rather than the wince 6. You need to exit he gps program, this will take you back to wince, where you will see the gps settings, where the path is setup. You will then see if the padlock is showing or not. I'm not sure what help it will be if it's not showing, so you may not want to mess with yours. I will understand if you don't....

I will try to email Rich Lin and see what he suggests.

hello everybody. i seem to have a unit that looks exactly the same as the ERISIN unit. Do you all think it is ok for me to attempt to install the firmware update to my unit? the ERISIN firmware is much better than mine, and the unit has the exact same specs. thank you.
