This is a very interesting thread...but I don't know where it leaves me or leads me!
I came here because I was thinking of (going back to) Garmin 2595LMT to replace my TT 540XXL. Had a Garmin of several editions back (C320) as my first AIO.
Actually, I am quite pleased with the TT 540XXL except for one big time deal killer--I live in Florida, and I wear sunglasses all the time in daylight. You cannot see the TT screen! Well, let me correct that: you can see the route map with effort, and you can see the large miles-to-next-turn and its direction. Everything else on the screen is darn near unreadable--dim.
So, I was thinking of switching to a Garmin 2595LMT to get a screen I could see, but this thread leaves me hesitant, especially since it is about $70 more than I paid for the TT on sale a year ago.
Look up the link below they make thin film screens for most glare problems especially TomTom users, I have one on my 2535 and it has cut down the glare 85% maybe more and I can see most of what I need. Good luck. Oh its $9.95..........http://www.amazon.com/Lexerd-TomTom-TrueVue-Anti-Glare-Protector/dp/B0028AKDIY

Yes. That is why I was considering moving back to the Garmin...the C320 I had long ago was always bright enough to see, even in FL day and with sunglasses on. Then I started getting cold feet due to all the negative comments in this thread about the 2595LMT.
