Thanks for the quick reply. I agree a point track is not a track. However Garmin GPSs produce it. (Mine is an eTrex Vista HCx). I think it is generated when a waypoint is created. I had a feeling that the two were related. If you delete the first track (which is a proper track), keeping the 1 point track, then too the problem vanishes.
Another anomaly: In Google maps, if one double clicks, the status line shows the zoom level, whereas if one uses the on screen zoom controls, one sees the bounding limits. There is enough screen realestate to show both.
@GPSPassion: the bug is that for certain data, when Google Maps is choosen, the bounding box limits are not correct.
Regards

AlmostLost You wouldn't believe how much insane thing I have seen straight out of stock devices and their supporting software. Convert the track to a waypoint or just delete it. That's not an anomaly, the google map <-> gpx editor communication is way more complicated than you think. I didn't even want to display any status but added it for debugging purpose.
Zedig I don't understand what you want to do, sorry. |

You need to end the route by clicking on the button again. The a File/Save as to create a new gpx file. |

Pixel K, and then delete the wrong route or delete first before creating the new one?
It gives me this message when i was tring to upload de gpx file into Sportypal page:
" Upload failed. Please correct the errors and try again.
Could not read date/time data from GPX file. You might want to try uploading it as a Track instead of a Workout.!
Thanks again. |

Once the cause is pinpointed with certainty, dealing with it is not a problem.

So I take it the status line displays what is returned by Google, rather than what GPXeditor generates?
I have another RFF (actually quite a few RFFs, but lets start with one). Sometimes the track overlay hides/ obscures what is written on the map. Can some mechanism be introduced to toggle the track overlay on and off simply. (In OziExplorer, if the map is moved slightly, the track vanishes, and is redrawn only when the mouse button is released. I think it is inadvertent, but still very useful.)
Thanks once again for a great program.

So I take it the status line displays what is returned by Google, rather than what GPXeditor generates? Again, it's a bit more complicated : GPX Editor asks Google maps to launch certain events which are then interpreted by GPX Editor, and only a subset of those are displayed. Take the status bar as a free bonus, the next best thing would be to hide it completely.
Hiding the tracks on demand should be easy, I'll work on that, thank you for the feedback. In the meantime, you can set the track opacity if you enable GPX Style. |

AlmostLost Could you try this beta ? A added a hide track button ton the google map page. There's also a "zoom all" button to recenter the map after a move/zoom. I also added an "Export as HTM" to the file menu, to save the generated html easily.
Zeding I don't know this website/service, I don't know what they want, I don't know what you sent them. |

Hi, This is great. Thank You. Prelim test drive report: the show/ hide track toggle, and the zoom all (on GMap) seems to work fine. Also the zoom controls (in preview mode) work as before.
Haven't tried the HTML export function.
Regards
PS. Let me collect my thoughts, and I'll make a list of the (I think small) stuff which I think will make for a better user experience. Will start with the status line, and the graph. |

Hello,
I want to draw routes from holidays into a map and don't want to use Google maps. Normally I like the "mapnik"-style from OSM. But for Oman maps are too colourful.
There is another style you can see on www.openstreetmap.de called "OSM deutscher Stil" looking like this with yellow/orange roads:

Is it possible to get such a style in GPX editor? |

Mapnik's look like
MapnikGetTileUrl = function (a,b) {
var ServerURLs = ["http://a.tile.openstreetmap.org/",
"http://b.tile.openstreetmap.org/",
"http://c.tile.openstreetmap.org/"]
var url = ServerURLs[Math.round(Math.random()*2)] + b + "/" + a.x + "/" + a.y + ".png";
return url;

Hi, Often I have to work with rather large files. And often get an Insufficient Memory error message.
I was seeing (using Windows Task Manager) that a)Every edit causes a jump in the memory usage. (Possibly due to the undo stack) b)Memory usage for loading and saving are far more than for when the program is running.
The upshot is that sometimes after a bout of editing, when one wants to save, one gets an insufficient memory error message, and that's it. One looses all ones edits, and that is very frustrating. Can something be done about it. Like clear the undo stack, and save. (If this is the case, and for consistency of user experience/ expectations, this can be put into a 'Save As and Exit' command)
Also on a related note, I feel if a file is renamed and saved (Save As), it should also reflect in the recently opened (Reopen) list.
Regards

First, congratulations for the excellent application.
It should show the map as a background tab editor (preview).
Or at least could keep the same position when the tab switch to Google Maps, without reloading the default zoom.
Another suggestion is to keep the tools selected, instead of exit the tool with every click. |
