Well, good things come to those who wait it seems! Although it would have been nice of them to jump directly to the Q4/2009 version (Navteq Q2/2009) maps since it's been available in Europe for a couple of weeks already. They'll catch up next time ;-)

It's a map update, not a software update, and as you will see in the Garmin map update topics (Garmin CN NT 2010.20 Maps or Garmin CN NA NT 2010.30 Maps - 11/09), it's always a bit of a guessing game to figure out what's changed. Also keep in mind that Navigon have no control over the contents of the maps that they buy from Navteq so any errors in the maps should be directed to Navteq if you have any interest in seeing them fixed, see Submitting Navteq Map Errors with "Map Reporter".

Now that the map update is available it's high time to get back to the topic at hand, any comments about Navigon's policies belong in the topic I linked on the previous page.

There is a color change to the maps. The ground is now shades of tan/brown whereas before it was shades of white/gray. Looks much better.

Also, a new street I reported to Navteq in August 2009 *does* show up in this mapset so it is definitely an update.

I got a message when I opened Fresh stating that I needed to switch to a 4 Gb SDHC memory card. Did others get the same message?

I updated Navigon 3Q 2009 this evening I didn't get a message about 4GB SDHC memory card. Beside, my NAVIGON fresh vision: 1.4.7.

As far as the 4GB SDHC is concerned, it is probably a good idea to do a full back up through Freshmaps or to just do a copy all to your hard drive somewhere. The put a new 4gb sdhc disk in, copy the contents to the 4gig and test it out in the Navigon. Then, download and install the update.

I just wish they would get in line with the other manufactures to allow us to create and update POI's and then allow us to customize it a little.

New reply from Mr. S[ed] this morning:

Hi Matt,
great news. As soon as possible we will be launching the Q4 Map Material. A deadline cannot be given at the time though.
Our goal is to catch up and then deliver the maps as it should be.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best Regards / Salutations distinguées

I, too, am getting the 4gb message. But I am also unable to get the map downloaded at all. I get a "connection attempt failed" message - is anybody else having difficulty?

Updated, no problem. Needed to re-pair the cell phone. scroll buttons on right side of screen seem to be more responsive. Or maybe the placibo effect.

Anyway, good to see Navigon released an update. Hopefully future updates will come every quarter.

vmax, might try running Fresh under compatibility mode, selecting Windows XP.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

Good luck!

@bc3tech - I have to make sure I get a good connection, then I can't breath near it as it will disconnect. I had to redo my back up for the Q3 update. It kept loosing connection if I bumped the cable.

I successfully installed the Q3 update. Can anyone tell me how to compare the version of FRESH software installed on my computer with the version currently offered on the Navigon website?
