Real soon - like, sometime next week. If you want to order now, just put "DVD" in the Special request/comment field when you checkout, and we'll send you the new disks.

California, for example, is now on 4 DVDs (some files are duplicated to make it work direct from each DVD).

Richard.

I would like to see you add the ability to import 3rd party elevation data. You can elevation data from http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/ , but can not use it in Memory-Map.

a couple of things that would help me...
DXF import from cad (I can export shape file, and use pro, but would prefer DXF) ..ability to easily measure distance, (an inverse between waypoints would be great...)
ability to enter and edit routes by course and distance(on the legs), prefer quadrant, degrees min sec, xx.xx feet..section, township, and range search..

better error handling when converting a doqq to a qct file, if for some reason if it does not like it, it locks up the program..

support for state plane, but I think with ron sent me, I can work that out, but it is in meters, I prefer feet.. ability to read in ngs benchmark sheets..

how will this work on a new generation TDS ranger (win mobile 2003, se) landscape? Pete (TDS) tested Terra Guide with a holux cf card, and said it works normally..so Ver 5, sould be the ticket..

I still have to use maptech Terrain Nav pro, and pocket quads imaging, and corpscon, and some tools from mentor to do some things..but getting better in each release..

the important want in the above list, is creation/editing of routes...
the rest I can work with..(more of a pro wish list..)

great product, and tech support..

Charles,
Fl..

I believe that I read somewhere that MM doesn't want to do this directly since there is no standard format for elevation data and so they didn't want to have to support many different formats. So my suggestion would be to either publish the specs for QED files or (even better) define a standard format (preferably in XML) that they can import so that at least techy users can write interface apps.

True, but Memory-Map Navigator Version 5 actually has a link that points you here: http://www.memory-map.com/index.html?http://www.memory-map.com/usgs_seamless.htm to get free aerial photos. You can also get topos which I prefer, because of their smaller size. I understand they do not want to a bunch of formats, but if they actually point you to the USGS website, I would hope they would at least support the format USGS uses.

In the meantime, to search your geocaches, you can export to a CSV file and re-arrange the columns (Name, Category, Lat, Long) using Excel. Then change the filename to a .txt file and load it with Search / Load database.

Regards,
Richard.

What happened to this effort?

How about having the ability to import .gpx files into the PDA application? I would like to be able to import caches/waypoints into Map View from Cachemate while out in the field (without the need for a PC). I can filter the caches in cachemate by criteria like Nearest Caches within X miles etc. and then export the returned caches to a .gpx file. It would be nice to be able to import this .gpx file into Memory Map.

I would rather not import all the caches in my pocket caches into Memory Map. If the above import ability was available, I could import just those caches that are necessary for the days outting. The caches could then be removed from Memory Map at the end of the day.

It's not desireable to maitain a complete cache database in Cachemate and import all the same caches into Memory Map. It defeats the purpose of having a seperate cache database/manager.

Then again none of this would be necessary if Memory Map had some basic waypoint/cache management features. If Memory Map could filter the waypoints/marks/cache list by criteria like "Nearest Caches/Waypoints within X miles" etc. it would be nice. It would also be nice if memory map could display the detailed cache info and logs in the .gpx files. These abilities would go a long way to negating the need for two separate applications.
