When you connect your GPS to the computer, and the communicator starts. Does it automatically install the latest update for you?

Every time I try to U/L from Google to my 255w, communicator has failed on all FF versions since about 10 (currently on 12b) & has to be reinstalled. It won't even install on my FF 64 bit.

Has anyone been able to get the communicator plugin to work with a 64 bit browser?

It seems to work OK for me using FireFox 12 and Chrome 20.0.1132.11 beta-m. Not sure how to tell if they are 64 bit browsers but they are running on Windows 7 64Bit SP1.

You probably have FF 12 32 bit version (can't speak about Chrome). FF 64 bit (BTW, there is no FF 64 bit) is up to Nightly 15.0a1 & is on the nightly update channel. How to tell: go to Help>About. If you're on the nightly update channel, About will say About Nightly & the About dialog will say "You are currently on the nightly update channel." Nightlies are not supported versions & in fact Mozilla has said all along (& keeps saying) that they won't support a 64 bit release version.

If your dialog says you are currently on the release update channel, then.... If your dialog says you are currently on the beta update channel, then.... AFAIK, only the nightly channel can be 64 bit, although it also has a 32 bit version. Another way of knowing is which Program Files directory it's installed in: Program Files (this is the 64 bit directory) or Program Files (x86) (this is the 32 bit program program directory).

Communicator won't install as a plugin in any of my 64 bit browsers: Nightly, Pale Moon 64 or Waterfox. On those browsers it will only install as an extension which doesn't work. I guess I'm answering my own question. It appears that the Communicator plugin won't work on 64 bit browsers. At least not Mozilla browsers.

I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit and IE 9. I normally run the 32 bit IE because it seems faster than 64 bit and I don't really see any advantage to the 64 bit version. But I just tried myDashboard on IE9 64 bit with both my nuvi 855 and Oregon 550. The Communicator plugin works fine with this combination.

It appears you're right about 64 bit IE (I had regressed the 9 that came pre-installed w/ Win 7 back to 8) & the plugin, but I almost never use IE. It appears to be a 64 bit Mozilla-based browser issue. It does work w/ my 32 bit FF 13. Guess I'll just have to use 32 bit FF when I want to send to my 255w.
