I have many TK102-2 working 24h/day in GPRS mode without any problems. I do not use TK102 any more.
TK102-2 has TLIMIT command, which makes the unit NOT send GPRS data if it has not moved more than x meters since the last time it sent data. It is not a standby mode, but it does the job of saving a lot in battery usage and GPRS traffic. |

Yes, the GPS remains alive, but I think that what drains more the battery is sending GPRS data. I have not done any tests since I hardly use only the internal battery, when I tested long ago with internal battery when sending with GPRS I would get about 12h sending every 60 seconds, and 24h sending every 5 minutes. I do not even remember if that was testing with TK102 or TK102-2, I think TK102, TK102-2 battery life is supposed to be a bit better.
If I have some time I will try to test again using TLIMIT to see if there is really a difference in battery life. |

hi Technogoat, Can you please share some more information on what you know about Coban TCP command format? for example, how to make it continue reporting with a 10s interval?
Thanks! xinkai

You can also send requests to Coban trackers from your GPRS server.
Note that the GPRS commands do not use the the same format as SMS commands. eg **,imei:<imei_number>,B
will tell the tracker to send its position just once

xinkai, I gave you the command for periodic reporting in another topic and it is in the users manual : Send SMS "fix<red><i>sss</i></red>s<red><i>nnn</i></red>n123456" Where - sss is the number of seconds between each report : between 010 and 255 - nnn is the total number of report to be sent. Use *** for infinite reporting For example send "fix010s***n123456" for infinite reporting every 10 seconds.

Hi there, I've got two questions concerning my xexun tk102 tracker.
1 - Is there a way to restore the complete defaults? I'm trying to setup 3 authorized numbers through a serial/usb connection but it says "admin fail".
2 - On the last page af the manual it says (something like): can be configured through USB serial connection and GPRS. I'm very interested in the latter. Does anyone now how to connect through GPRS to the device. I'm guessing through the IP it gets from the carrier. But on which port? and which protocol? UDP?

@sturb,
Try "format123456" for default settings (format+password).
I know TK102-2 can be configured with USB cable and I think it can also receive GPRS commands, but I have never tried it. I think with TK102 you can not do it.

Sturb On the Coban, you can send commands through the return path. You cannot connect to the unit as you don't know its IP (and however it does not listen to incoming socket). But when the unit connects to the server, you send send commands back to it through the socket. See for example how in my sample gateway I send LOAD and ON commands back to the tracker. The same method can be used to transfer commands to the tracker. At least this works with a Coban. I don't know the GPRS commands for the Xexun. |

| If "format123456" doesnt work, you can also try "restart123456" or "reboot123456". |

I reset everything on my TK102b(zhyichina.com)I think it is the coban. with the "begin123456" (123456is your password)
it also set the password back to 123456.
I have the real time tracking working with gps-server.net and it works great. But the battery life in about 12hours.
Later, Gundy |

Hi everybody, I'm looking for software for live tracking TK-102 WITHOUT internet connection. I have a GSM modem for sending and receiving SMS and I want to be on tour without having to rely on a good internet connection that can load online maps fastly enough. It might have to use openstreetmaps because it's possible to download the maps there (via the program "Vinking" e.g.) I need nearly the same as phonetracker location center but there you can only work with google maps, that means you need an internet connection. Any ideas? Thanks a lot! |

Hi All Thanks to all who have posted over the years,I was able to make the right decisions and buy a Xexun that is not a clone.I bought it directly from the factory so I am sure it is genuine. I dealt with David at Xexun and received my order in just over a week in South Africa, outstanding service. My question is about the GPS antenna, must it be mounted so that it can see the sky through a window or can it be hidden, under the dash or in the boot? Thanks guys! |

In that case it just leave the GSM section on and shutdown the GPS. GPS would be awaken only upon request (menas that it will take 30sec to 1 minute to answer to your call). This is the only way to save battry life. But if you enable a move/geofence alarm, then the tracker must leave the GPS on which drains the battery within less than 10 hours.
AS far I have read this forum, Xexun TK102 does not have a standby mode. May be TK102-2 ?
Hello, so what is the quickest way to turn GPS back on? I usually send the begin command but that can take 5-20 min before I can get a GPS:OK
Thanks |
