To GarySN: About "advance route planning". It's still there in 1.6 just as before. On the Main Menu: tap "more" at bottom right of the screen. Then: . Select "Route" . Then, . Select "New Route" and say "yes" you want to delete the current route. Then, . Tap "Add Route Point". Then, . Enter an Address by one of the methods shown. Then, . Tap "Add to Route" again to select a second destination on the route. Do this for any number of destinations. Then: . Press "Calculate Route". Then, . Press "More". You should now get the screen showing "Details" at the top. |

| I recently loaded Navigon v1.6 on my iPhone 4 (migrated from 3GS). I had previously purchased - via in-app purchase - the Traffic option and so re-downloaded the Traffic option again to make everything whole again. However now whenever I use the application it prompts me for my iTunes password. Anyone else notice this behavior? Would be curious to know if there is a fix for this somewhere. |

| I'm happily (make it very happily) running 1.6 on iP4 and don't have this password prompt problem except for initial hassle with upgrading traffic from iP 3G. |

| Navigon itself doesn't need a data connection, but some of the services it provides, such as traffic or Google Local Search do. Make sure you turn off Data Roaming on your phone before you get to the US and you won't have a problem. Only turn on Data Roaming when you know you need to use the data connection. |

Cell signal helps in triangulation on GPS satellite signal. Dunno if any data was being used or just a tower signal. So in Airplane mode your lock times may suffer. |

| The GPS is actually off in airplane mode. You need to turn off data roaming but not put the device in airplane mode. |

Sorta fixed this; the password prompt seems to persist until you actually activate the traffic to work "Automatically" via settings. |

Does this work with iPod Touch and Tom Tom Kit?
continued : Also, they have different apps. for different regions.
So you buy for one region and probably add other regions through in-app. purchases?
Looks like the Europe region is the most expensive at $120 but that presumably doesn't include the US maps?
Would the US maps be $60 like the US map or slightly less?
Looks like in-app purchases along with a car cradle could bring the total cost up to some premium standalone PNDs like the 3790?
How does in-app features like Panorama 3D and traffic compare to features in standalone PNDs?
Does Navigon.app offer any advantages in customization over standalone PNDs, like loading custom routes, POIs, favorites? |

| I have both US and European maps. They are two separate apps, purchased separately from the app store. |

| So if I want to buy the $25 in-app Panorama 3D option, I have to buy it for both apps? |

Don't know about Touch (does it have a GPS?) but Navigon works fine with TomTom kit which I tried. My personal opinion is that TomTom kit adds little in terms of GPS performance at least on iPhone4. I'm so happy with Navigon+iPhone4 combo that I totally stopped using my standalone later model Garmin and probably will sell it.

I just got notified that Navigon 1.7 is available. I got notice of the European version. I also own the US version so hopefully that one will be updated soon too. According to Navigon, MobileNavigator 1.7.0 brings the following additions to the NAVIGON iPhone app:quote: -Universal iPad Integration: NAVIGON is the first major GPS Company to make navigation universal; it now runs natively on the iPhone and the iPad. Users with MobileNavigator installed can use the app on both devices without extra charges. The app utilizes the iPad's large display and user interface with a higher resolution, and new menus. Route planning is convenient on the iPad, showing a large scrollable, multi-touch map to select destinations in simple taps. Users can plan their routes at home on the iPad and then send them to their iPhone for navigation on the go. MobileNavigator can also be used for navigation on the iPad. Capitalizing on the large screen, the app demonstrates Reality View Pro and the map view side-by-side, providing an accurate overview of the way ahead. In-map elements such as direction arrows, Lane and Speed Assistant symbols are designed in proportion to the iPad display size.
-Zagat Survey: An In App Purchase offers access to Zagat's signature ratings and reviews of over 40,000 restaurants, hotels, attractions, golf courses, nightspots and other leisure activities, based on the thoughts and opinions of a worldwide network of thousands of surveyors. Zagat has become the world's most trusted source to help consumers make informed decisions about where to go. Zagat's content is integrated into MobileNavigator#146;s point of interest search, so users can easily find locations within a city, state or nearby. A tap on the individual destination reveals further information such as ratings of the appeal, decor and service as well as prices, telephone numbers and the full review text.
-Active Lane Assistant: The market first feature Active Lane Assistant assists drivers with getting and staying in the correct lane by showing a live lane animation. Displayed in the lower right corner of the map view, the animation reflects the current lane configuration and allows drivers to see ahead. An orange line indicates the way the driver should follow. The optional feature can be switched on or off.
-Map Reporter: The new Map Reporter feature enables users with the power to store changed road names, new speed limits, and one-way streets and submit them to improve the accuracy of future maps. The information is checked, verified and then integrated into later map updates.
-Retina Display Support: Retina display adaptation is further enhanced and now also shows the map, map fonts and POIs in high resolution.
-User Notifications and Newsletter: The update now also allows users to receive on-screen messages with important information about MobileNavigator within the app. In addition, users can also sign up for a newsletter and receive exclusive offers and first hand information by email.
