Thanks WillyW had a look interesting but nothing has worked yet

what you can see
volume control
the pcb connection no plug to connect to computer
BUT see the Shiny bit that is where the connector should be
So YES it can be connected to a computer

Video in
Headphone jack

solid diecast aluminium shell

To get past the the normal startup screen.

1 get explorer.exe put it on the sd card (mio hack)
2 First screen click setting
3 Second screen click Nav.Set
4 Click the brown folder to storage card and find explorer.exe
and double click

5 Ok ...... then close this (this is the second screen

6 Now you can click navigation

Most of the software is on this site
Sorry unable to attach a rar here??? or is there?

EDITING the registry

Open the new desktop
2 click view
3 click options
3 uncheck Do not show hidden files folder
Hide protected operating system files
Hide file extensions

4 You need a virtual key board already running and press enter

Now you can see and tweak the registy and files on the NAND memory

<<<<<Only problem will not keep the settings on reboot.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
You will notice short battery life and the front screen very warm

click on setup on the gps bottom button and turn the contrast all the way up less heat longer battery life

Nice looking unit Willy, looks like we are in the same boat

Had already done and have the same problems

change your virtual keyboard to the smaller one (MioTool)

when not being used it is a tiny mark on the screen the enter key is the right side same symbol as on the pc keyboard without "enter"
these work
cabinstl_en.exe 70KB
explorer.exe 275KB
VirtualKeyboard.exe miotool.exe 21KB
Regedit.exe 147KB
Resinfo.exe 60KB

OziexplorerCe 1.12.3b
Route66 also the only one I have working as it didn`t come with a sd or instructions

I'm quite clear what it is you are saying about the registry. Are you saying that all settings (including the registry) gets cleared when you reset or just files in ram directories like \Windows?

Can you confirm that at least registry settings like the Explorer shell settings persist on a reset?

Thanks!

Well Yes?
The Explorer.exe
Because we haven`t got the taskbar this is not a proper hack

So at the moment using the Original GPS interface it Gives one option WHERE IS YOUR NAVIGATION SOFTWARE .exe

This means by putting example
\StorageCard\Explorer.exe
instead of
\StorageCard\Route66.exe

This means by tapping navigation icon you go to explorer everytime even after a reset

The other icons example videoplayer,reader,mp3player don`t allow you to redirect

Thats what I am trying to learn how to redirect, say press the video to go to an exe in the storage card.

Hope that helps.

One more thing, the interface for this unit is called launch.exe
I tried and replaced it with explorer.exe renamed and yes it launches explorer on reboot but as it starts another? repairs the corrupt launcher so before you know it your back to the original

Part 2 Installing OziexplorerCE
Put the Modified cab files in a folder on the SD card put the card in the Mesada ( sounds like ME more SAD)and go to the storage card

Assuming you have explorer installed

ie storagecard\oziexplorerCE

Start the gps to explorer desktop and turn off the protection that starts every time you start the GPS if you have any problem Do a hard reset button on the back

Another Oziexplorer solution
Can`t get working but maybe I just don`t get the instructions, looks good
http://gpspassion.ibelgique.com/downloads.htm#taskbar

http://gpspassion.ibelgique.com/downloads/Regozi/Regozi.zip
Regozi.exe introduces information (OziExplorerCE), thus avoiding the dialog box that asks.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Summary :
RegOzi.exe : Launch Oziexplorer from \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
and registers it with data from the file \Storage Card\Oziexplorer\Ozi.pwd

After a cold restart, you must reintroduce registring data (user name + register code).
Regozi do it for you.
- Install oziexplorer on the Storage Card (Main program folder = \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
- Create a file with your user name + register code, separated with a space, and without CR at the end of the line
(see the included ozi.pwd (open with notePad): you can edit it and replace <username> <registration_code> with your own data)
- Name it Ozi.pwd
- Copy it in \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
- Copy the file ozi.rg1 to \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
- Run Regozi only once after a cold restart.

?????????????????????
Do they mean ??????
<username> <registration>
or
<username> <registration
or
username registration

Thanks

skin="igo_se1"
gxoff=1

[gps]
port=2
speed=4800

BUT there is another folder 800x400,480x272,480x234,320x240,240x320,240x240

NEW SYS.TXT file
[interface]

It looks like 8 pin ( or? if double side 16) I will check next time

Have a look at the full size photo only 8 per side and you will notice the holes to screw down the socket to the pcb

I might try a 8 pin Lan Socket

click the url for a larger picture and then click on the picture for full size.

Copyrite copywrite copyright (c)
Copywrong

You have a (copyrite) file and need to save it in Oziexplorer

Ozi won`t let you a pop-up will say
" Due to Licensing restriction this type of chart canot be saved"

How to work around

Your original files that you have that works in Ozi

Copywrong.kap 1000KB ( the map file)
copywrong.map 10Kb ( the data position)

Part 1

Download (FREE)
OGF2 converter PC program, which allows you to convert map images from commonly used formats. Designed for run under Windows 9X/NT/2000/XP.
http://www.wild-mobile.ru/files/download/ogf2tool-setup.exe

1 start ogf2toolsetup 981 KB >>>>>>> select folder C:\1\copywrong.kap

2 Ogf2setting >>>> same as source >>>> ok ( make sure it is the same ie c:1)

3 export image (choose gif, jpeg, tiff, bmp, png) (what you choose is up to you, size / quality)

4 Open copywrong.map with notepad and change old copywrong.kap to copywrong.gif (or what you saved yours )

5 you have 2 files copywrong.gif and copywrong.map

6 open ozi with copywrong.map

............................................................................................

If you need to use the file in ozice

Img2Ozf
http://www.oziexplorer3.com/img2ozf/img2ozf_setup_303.exe

1 Source map folder c:\1
Destination folder c:\1
Convert map >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You have copywrong.ozfx3 and copywrong_ozf.map

Have you guys been able to get MIO 3.3 working with the full screen on this device? I have the one without the FM apart from that my device is exactly the same. It came with Route 66 and it works fine but Miomap covers my area better and have managed to download it and the GAPI and put it in. I can get one of the drop list devices to work however the Mio still comes up with 1/3 of the screen black. It works fine just not in full screen. Is there a fix for this a simple work around for us newbies?
Cheers

TOMTOM I agree popup screen

That Bl#*dy I agree popup screen every time you start TOMTOM

Well using mortscript work round
http://www.sto-helit.de/downloads/mortscript/MortScript-4.1.zip

You need
MortScript.exe
mortzip.dll
autorun.exe (this is what you click on to start tomtom
autorun.msr This tells the tom.exe where to go/do

My display is 480x234 (landscape 7 inch)

the Popup with I AGREE is full screen at the bottom right side.

I choose (x =left to right 470 Y=224 height

Open notepad (TXT) copy/change below the dots
...............................................

# below is where MYtomtom is change to suit YOURTOMTOM
run \Storage Card\tomtom\TomTom 6\TomTom Navigator.exe
Sleep 3000
MouseClick 470,224

..................................................

save and rename to autorun.msr
put everything in the same folder

to start don`t click TomTom Navigator.exe which is how you normally start tomtom

the new way is via autorun.exe

you have to play around with the xy to suit you gps they are pixels

so even guessing should be ok (I did)

If it is working it will start tomtom if the agree isn`t working you need to change the xy

Thanks, i managed to get a good copy of IGO 2006 Plus and the miomap 9/2007 and it works full screen brilliantly on 7 inch screen. I used this sys.txt

Hi,

Ok made the judgement call to flash my unit to English WinCe & have managed to kill it.....

Well almost, unit boots but screen is like an an old tv with the vertical hold all to pot, can't navigate around to touch programs well not with any accuracy.
Will have to contact my Ebay seller to see if they can send me the original Bios in Chinese I suppose.

Hi, Ally55

Yeah bit of a bummer there.
My Suppliers are basically playing dumb at the moment.
Taking days to reply & basically answering the same question all the the time with a standard response of reset the Unit.
But not giving up hope as yet.

I reckon if they do send it, it might work on yours to give you picture but probably no sound as mine is all digital controls.

Can always ask my mum & dad to contact the supplier of the unit that they got as it is very similar to yours will see what I can do.

Did you only flash the WinCe part or did you do all 3 parts?
My unit still boots but only gets to the front end and the picture is as previously desribed.

syncro TomTom and Ozi works well you don`t need the usb connection or upgrades to do that .

Flashing with Assamiea files won`t work

This is going to be even harder trying to figure the usb connections

Maniac I just used the boot bin only I hope you can get better results from your supplier

Hi,

It's a pity as I was just about asking for those files!

My problem is that I have the _very_same_ unit, but from linellae.com (LF70GPS - http://www.linellae.com/portable?q=node/53) and it does not let me change to \StorageCard\Autorun.exe in Navi option. First I can choose it, but when I press OK it changes the setting back to the original \NandFlash\Autorun.exe...

Already tried to rename explorer.exe to
- route66n7.exe
- autorun.exe
- igo.exe
- anything else I could think of :)
but it's a no go - says "incorrect SD card"

Any other method to get to WinCE anybody could think of? I have read through the whole forum already but this has a very strict protection. But I do not think it's unbreakable :D

Have a nice weekend,
G

Hello,

I am French, excuse me for my bad English.
I have an unit type Mesada, it was delivered to me with Route 66.
When I calculate a route higher than 100 kms, I have the following error:
"Not enough memory: Please add some intermediate waypoints or define a shorter way"
I specify that I installed this SD CARD on my Pocket PC, and I had the same error message
Is somebody had this problem? How was it solved?

Thank you

Did you try and add an intermediate waypoint? and also try a different country map to test if it is a memory problem

good luck

I see that some of these GPSs do not have batteries and it is not obvious which one has a battery. How and why would you use a GPS without a battery? Every time you shut the engine or take it out of the car you have to reprogram them? The units without a battery, do they have the charging circuitry built-in and the room for a battery?

Hi,

I have Mesada 7 inch GPS which I bought from china schenzhen a few week ago.I was curious how to use it like a portable wince device. These are what I get till today. Mesada using samsungs S3C2440 microcontroller and this controller has build in two usb 1.1 controller a few (seems three) serial port Independent audio channels for stereo PCM In, stereo PCM Out, mono MIC In and so on. Most of this connections "discoverable on board" from manufacturer (samsung) pdf documents www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/83787/SAMSUNG/S3C2440.html also it is compatible with linux. http://narnia.cs.ttu.edu/drupal/node/194 explain howto load on S3C2440 based boards but you will need to prepare serial connection pinouts from/to cpu and minimum one usb connection. Samsung s3c2440 has wide support documents on the internet for updating/replacing nand even your unit firmware dead. Also http://www.wincesoft.de/html/gapi_for_hpc_s.html directX for playing more games on your mesada.

So, nobody can tell me why he would buy a GPS without a battery or nobody would admit that he didn't know he is getting a GPS without a battery. My point is that some of these GPSs come with a rechargeable battery and some don't. Unfortunately, it is not obvious which unit does NOT have a battery!

Pollyplopp,

Yeah that is the same generic unit that I have except I have managed to kill the display attempting to change the Bios to English.
Was generally very happy with it & as the 7.2V 1100mAh Lion battery is removable it is very obvious in this instance that it has one.

Would be very grateful if anyone with this unit has managed to get the nk.nb0 (Bios File) for it as that is what I need to get mine going again.
Getting in touch with Mesada appears to be nigh on impossible.

Thanks mate, atleast now I know it got a battery.
-Roughly how long does 1100mAH last on such a power hungry 7" screen?

I have been trying to find more info on this device and I found an Australian dealer that seem to offer reseller-options as well.
Maybe you could talk to them and hear if they could help you out...
-Where did you get yours from?

The 710 isn't listed but a seller on ebay with the same name as the
company is selling this(ebay seller: ozfactorydirect )

http://www.ozfactorydirect.com/contact.html
http://www.ozfactorydirect.com/images/7/GE710.pdf The manual

-What nav software is it using default? Are there european maps available "out there"?

-Is the whole OS in chinese? How much of a problem is this, is it still possible to work or completelly non understandable?

-I really need it to run OziExplorer for my boatcharts but that seem to be possible right? http://tinyurl.com/3ltn3h

-Does the mount work well and is able to hold it still/inplace eventhough it's weight/size?

-Is the FM Transmitter strong enough so it is useful?

I just noticed that the company also call them selves

Hi, Pollyplopp

As far as I can remember the battery lasted about 30-40mins.
Haven't been able to use it since I flashed the Bios with the wrong file but still attempting to get the right Bios off a couple of sources.
Yeah thanks for the link to the Aussie supplier. hava attempted contact with them however their Web support page does not appear to work so have sent an email, after giving them a phone.

Never really used the FM output as a bit of a radio junkie, but when I did try it, it appeared to work ok.

Re; Ipcom 701. I seem to be a bit luckier than most here. My software works okay. I have also been bounced by the ebay seller & the supplied booklet is wrong in regard to the antenna plug. It is not MMCX nor MCX. I am yet to work it out? The battery that I was told is inside runs out within an hour & I cant get it open to replace it so I have made a battery pack using MiMh AA batteries in a group of 6. I plug them into the power socket & they work fine for a bit over an hour.

I bought the device similar to Maniac_au and Pollyplopp a couple of months ago. Since then from watching this forum and many many others I have made many discoveries having a steep learing curve to wince.
Mesada website and retailers of this gps really didnt have after service in mind. So from this I realized it was up to us users to build our gps to way we wanted. Flashing the GPS with a wrong boot and system will brick your gps due to the large variety of setups the samsung 2440 cpu alows. Initially flashing seemed the only way to get the GPS to work like a PDA and still is but flashing is frought with the danger of bricking unless you really know what your doing. So, Ive developed a method of getting the GPS to install all necessary files and registries at startup.

I will upload the system when I have finished sorting out a couple more games.

In the meantime heres a little trick. You will need
ITaskmanager.exe
PNADesktop.exe
explorer.exe

Set your opening file from Launch as explorer
open explorer with Launch
open PNADesktop
open ITaskmanager
terminate PNADesktop
close ITaskmanager
close explorer
open explorer with Launch
you should notice a small bar at the bottom of the screen

Ive have also been able to extract a full ROM image and extracted all files from it, from this I may be able to get a boot image and OS image for those who flashed and screwed things up. For those who have bricked it by flashing there is only 1 way of getting it back and you need a fairly good knowledge of digital electronics to do so. As sirri mentioned its a Jtag cable to connect from PC parralel port to pins of the sc2440 chip. Here is a link for a similar method as describled by samsung, the example is only for a hp pda not the mesada.
http://hpcmonex.net/nec900/files/jtagging.html

I will post a download link soon

Good morning

Excuse me for my English, but I'm french.
I buy a mesada 980, and I do not have a battery inside, someone could tell me how to add a battery.
then, I have a 12 pin connector for USB, but I do not have cable. you know the wiring diagram?
Finally I saw that there was a module inside the bluetooth, but no programme allows me to activate?

Here are the photos.

Hi, All

A BIG thank you to Pollyplopp & ozfactorydirect who sent me the complete bios files for the GE710 (removable battery unit) & the OS file resurected my unit, only to find the power connector broken & the unit needing stripped down to repair it,turned out to be a bad joint allowing the track to lift from the pcb, but I have managed to solder it up

Back to business playing with this great GPS.

Will try to share files if requested.

Hi Piloubruce

The I tried to take the battery out before but if I remember it was glued in or something when i open it again I will try again and get the photos.

The Battery life is REALLY bad was about 20 minutes and dropped to about 4 minutes changing the brightness and contrast effect the power

The Screen gets really hot from the back light the back-light needs to be repaced with leds I think the external battery pack idea is a good idea, do a test with recharable batteries and see how long it won`t last first before you install

thanks

hi

yes I have a USB cable, but it is not a cable for this GPS, they are cables for printer, camera, mp3 or card reader. ....
how to test connection with a standard USB cable, in the gps.
it must miss component to install a battery, because by putting 7.2V on the two contacts of the version with battery, in does not start.
I will buy a solar charger, whom I would connect above, because the battery of small size never exceeds the 400mah.
this model for example:

the plug

If it is the correct socket the inside width should be 7.65mm

The Socket isn`t the problem (anyting will do)

WHAT WE NEED is some one with a manafactures cable 12pin to 4 pin usb only 2 to 4 wires will be connected but which ones

Bad luck you could use a charger for remote control toys that charge from 12 volt car batteries (example helicopters)just wire it and the battery across the 12 volt plug

ally55,
Hi, all
Yeah all I had to do was load the nk.nb0 file onto the SD Card & carefully navigate the rolling screen until I found sysupdater.exe. Then it was a matter of reflashing the OS so a lot easier than a unit which does not boot at all. Mine has the Mini-USB Connector. To reflash with No Boot Loader will probably be a lot harder, requiring a Jtag lead to be made up as mentioned earlier, but then again its always worth a go..

Pollyplopp,

Yeah the OS is still in chinese so no further ahead but a lot better than having a brick

Tarrim is your unit a 7" one as the files for a 4.3" unit are different which is where the rest of us went wrong in the 1st place.
Also the 070706_40.msk are specific to the customised front end so are also different from unit to unit, as well as age specific to when the device was made (probably) as another dated file may or may not work...

Hello,
If I download the igo myway 2006 (and associated maps) to my SD card and get it running will it allow me to edit/save POIs, waypoints, history, settings etc?

My only complaint with this unit so far is with the route66 software I have to reconfigure the unit every time it powers down.

Thanks

RECONFIGURE you are saying you loose
1 gps setting (are the settings being saved on the sd,)

also try on the root of the sd card make a new.txt rename to Config.ini open it and add
these two lines
444444444444444444444444444444 don`t include the 44444444444
GPSPort=2
GPSBaudRate=4800
4444444444444444444444444444444

2 waypoints

3 Map ( open prefs.ini with note pad have a look where it points to the map

2 and 3 pull the card out after it is setup and running and close the read/write switch put it back in close it down and restart.

Just a few ideas anyone else.

Yeah you can choose English on the proprietory front end but not once you get into WinCe which is all chinese.
So if you Run Route66 the time zone option is still in chinese however have been reliably informed the 1st +10Hrs option is Brisbane, Was mainly after English to try to get other programs running under WinCe.
Don't the units that have either no battery or a couple of small internal LiPo batteries have a seperate USB Board? mine as far as I remember is all on 1 PCB.Might have a quick look later today.

Hi,

Had a look at the internals again later, had to do some repairs to the power connector. My USB connector is standard mini USB and there are only the 4 tracks so different PCB layout than the other units.
Also know that the chassis are available in different quality as my parents unit also appears to be very well built externally as does mine. However the quality inside of some of the connectors is pretty dodgy.

I noticed for the first time on ebay a new 7 inch gps with bluetooth as well.

I am eager to hear if you made any new progress on totally unlocking this gps to get access to the toolbar in wince.

SysUpdater.exe (when run, it pop up that screen as you posted)
2440Boot.bin

Hi! Could you please send me the above mentioned 4 files? Or could you tell me where to find them? I have a gps, which is probably corrupted by me... Thank you!

Hello everyone. I'm Juan from Argentina. First of all, I'm sorry for my english.
I'm completly new in GPS things and, I think, I'm started with the wrong foot. I bought a GPS from China, same model like mesada, with iGO as navigation system.
But, the problem is that there's no MAPS in iGO format for agentina (extension FBL). The available maps in argentina are for garmin devices (maps with extension IMG).
So, people in Argentina recomends me that I must buy a NAVITEL program and install inside the GPS. And the question is:
Does Anybody try to install this software into the mesada? If it's the case, could you guys send me the instructions? (I want to know that, if I will buy the software, I will be able to install it in the GPS)
Or another quuestion is: if it's possible to convert the maps from GARMIN format, to iGO format (the maps in GARMIN format are free in argentina, because they are develop by an open source team).

Thanks in advance for your help!!! Regards, Juan
Any help will be really apreciate (sorry for my english again!! :-) )

Salut jean-michel,

Salut Mess,

Je n'ai pas de problème pour arriver sur le bureau de mon gps, mais la barre des taches n'apparaît pas naturellement (même en exécutant "showtaskbar") ,je suis obligé de me servir d'une taskbar alternative qui ne correspond pas exactement, par exemple quand je clic sur "démarrer" pas de menu déroulant;
J'ai bien ce petit soft "restart.exe), mais quand je l'exécute, il éteint mon gps, il fait exactement comme si j'appuyais sur "power" durant plus de 3 secondes, ce que je voudrais c'est un petit log qui ferait "arrêter redémarrer" dans la foulée;
Si tu veux je peux t'envoyer le contenu de ma "Nandflash", c'est un gps 7" je ne pense pas que ce soit important, en tout cas tu ne risques pas grand chose de l'essayer ;Seulement je ne sais pas comment te l'envoyer;
a+

There is no possible way to soft reset this device. The boot software on the rom simply does not have the program to deal with a soft reset and so programs like softreset.exe will seize your device or turn it off leaving you with a cold reset.

hello,

Thank you I suspected well that it was a problem of ROM

I am very interested by your project of desktop that you had presented in your
post of the 25/04/2008,
Is your project finished?
How you do to have the toolbar?
How you do to extract the ROM image?
Can you send this Rom image as well as the manner of installing it

Thank you if you can help me

Hi all !

I did an extensive research in the past few weeks :)
Here is the result:
I found the jtag pinout and dumped the nand flash (thanks to you know who you are :) ).
Without the boring details here comes the solution to unlock the device (if it comes with the same software as mine) :
Simply create an empty file called pihu258.sl on the root of your sd card.
After this the write protection of the navpath has removed for good.

I hope this helps
Regards,

Hello All,

I've read part of your messages, and I've also made some tests on a Mesada GPS unit.

http://teksoftco.com/home/radu/mesada/

The biggest problem atm, is that the registry get wiped out after a reset. Anyone knows a solution to that?

Also the explorer.exe installed on this Mesada GPS is missing the Taskbar. Is there any copy of explorer.exe with the Taskbar?

I've developed a little tool to help you unlock the Mesada GPS Unit.

Other GPS Units might work as well, but I've tested on Mesada only.
The only requirement is that the device needs to run WinCE 5.0 at least.

Download the tool from:
http://www.teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1848

Here is a screen shot:

the 7inch Mesada models discussed preiously in this thread use wince 4.2.
Any chance you could describe what you installer does so we could reproduce it on a 4.2 ?

thanks

Yes,

The installer copies several files via ActiveSync from the Desktop to the Mesada hidden partition.

Then it terminates (killprocess) the original Mesada GUI and replaces it with the new files.

The new interface will remain even after a reset, being installed in the hidden partition.

To revert back to the mesada gui, simply execute the desktop tool again, and press uninstall.

I've tested it on a mesada wince 5.0 and it works fine.

In case you guys have ideas for new features or additions, drop a few lines on http://teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1848

I have just received my GPS and have so far managed to get onto the software and replace the videoplayer with coreplayer :( Had to go with tmpcp as coreplayer has a code on the flash that vanishes and am looking at what else i can hack, sweet unit

Update: I have now got the latest IGO8 running 100%, and ive changed the ebookreader to be my explorer app :)

Arvo' all,
I have the same unit as silas /polly have.
I found the Ebook reader and BT apps in the $MDS$ folder , both run , but i don't think my unit had BT hardware.
Battery life is crap , 5 min running or 7 hours on sleep. I have asked for a better/new battery.
Found my way in and about the unit with help from this site , but can't get any of the regeditors to run. Anyone got a safe 8 or 10 button app launcher please ?

I have been able to replace certain files in the $MSD$\apps with my own apps, i renamed them the same as the originals, I use TCPMP as the video and mp3 player and both work OK, coreplayer doesnt work for me as yet as it writes to a file called confix.xml in the application folder of the NAND drive and this gets wiped in a strange way, not sorted this yet, and i use the ebook icon to launch a windows file explorer, i am looking to see if we can write to the WINCE 4.2 stuff

OH and I am now running IGO8 (June 08) as my preferred GPS software, and it rocks

@Silas
I only have 6 icon in menu ( not BT or ebook).
Can i swap $mds$ files with you to play with . this will give me two more app buttons to use?

I have MREditor working now.
Still don't know how to edit/make .skin files or .mds.
( this thing is better than rubix cube or susuku

I will try sysupdate with logo and logo2 soon

Hi everybody, thanks for the discussions so far.

I have just bought the exact same unit that ally55 has and I stumbled across this forum.

I just want a clear tutorial or guide on how to put TomTom onto this device as well as accessing WinCE (4.3)

I would also love the ability to put a different media player on the device as well because I think the current one looks horrible!

Thank you very much and hopefully somebody can provide a list of steps to get the above to work.

I now see that there are a lot of units that look like the one in Pollys pic ( with 6 silver buttons down the side). BUT i see that my unit is 480x234 and the ones with BT look to all be 480x272.
I also looked in the files in my $MSD$ with a resource editor that the two apps ( ebook and BT) look to have buttons in the lower 1/8 of the LCD where i MAY not be able to see on the 234 lcd ...

nah mines 480*234 half the problems were people supplying 480*272 instead of the 480*234.

andyle2k - in the $MSD$\apps you will find the videoplayer.exe all you need to do is put say tcpmp.exe in there with its files and rename the file as videoplayer and it will work.

TOMTOM wont work as it needs to write files to a folder than is read only :(

thank you for the responses.

Throughout the post, ally55 claims to have been successful in adding TomTom to the GPS device. I'm sorry but the instructions are a bit too technical for me to understand completely.

Is it possible for anybody to rewrite the steps?

Thank you Silas for the tip on how to get TCPMP on the device.

@ Silas,
is your CE chinese? , The media players in your system come up in chinese on my unit.
I have rounded down the three files that run the 8 icon menu and have found the icons.. now have to work out how to copy your 3 files into my nandflash as they are always used and give a sharing violation if i copy using Activesync..
