Thanks WillyW had a look interesting but nothing has worked yet
what you can see
volume control
the pcb connection no plug to connect to computer
BUT see the Shiny bit that is where the connector should be
So YES it can be connected to a computer

To get past the the normal startup screen.
1 get explorer.exe put it on the sd card (mio hack)
2 First screen click setting
3 Second screen click Nav.Set
4 Click the brown folder to storage card and find explorer.exe
and double click
5 Ok ...... then close this (this is the second screen
6 Now you can click navigation
Most of the software is on this site

EDITING the registry
Open the new desktop
2 click view
3 click options
3 uncheck Do not show hidden files folder
Hide protected operating system files
Hide file extensions
4 You need a virtual key board already running and press enter
Now you can see and tweak the registy and files on the NAND memory
<<<<<Only problem will not keep the settings on reboot.

You will notice short battery life and the front screen very warm
click on setup on the gps bottom button and turn the contrast all the way up less heat longer battery life

Had already done and have the same problems
change your virtual keyboard to the smaller one (MioTool)
when not being used it is a tiny mark on the screen the enter key is the right side same symbol as on the pc keyboard without "enter"

I'm quite clear what it is you are saying about the registry. Are you saying that all settings (including the registry) gets cleared when you reset or just files in ram directories like \Windows?
Can you confirm that at least registry settings like the Explorer shell settings persist on a reset?

Well Yes?
The Explorer.exe
Because we haven`t got the taskbar this is not a proper hack
So at the moment using the Original GPS interface it Gives one option WHERE IS YOUR NAVIGATION SOFTWARE .exe
This means by putting example
\StorageCard\Explorer.exe
instead of
\StorageCard\Route66.exe
This means by tapping navigation icon you go to explorer everytime even after a reset
The other icons example videoplayer,reader,mp3player don`t allow you to redirect
Thats what I am trying to learn how to redirect, say press the video to go to an exe in the storage card.
Hope that helps.
One more thing, the interface for this unit is called launch.exe
I tried and replaced it with explorer.exe renamed and yes it launches explorer on reboot but as it starts another? repairs the corrupt launcher so before you know it your back to the original

Anyone know how to copy this exe the properties info has it greyed out ticked system file protected . So I can`t rename/copy it out of the Nand memory

Part 2 Installing OziexplorerCE
Put the Modified cab files in a folder on the SD card put the card in the Mesada ( sounds like ME more SAD)and go to the storage card
Assuming you have explorer installed
ie storagecard\oziexplorerCE
Start the gps to explorer desktop and turn off the protection that starts every time you start the GPS if you have any problem Do a hard reset button on the back

Almost BRICKED it got it back but it takes a lot of work
The Stylus adjustment I though they wanted to know your MAX screen
size NO only click on the centre of the cross hairs

Regozi.exe introduces information (OziExplorerCE), thus avoiding the dialog box that asks.

Summary :
RegOzi.exe : Launch Oziexplorer from \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
and registers it with data from the file \Storage Card\Oziexplorer\Ozi.pwd
After a cold restart, you must reintroduce registring data (user name + register code).
Regozi do it for you.
- Install oziexplorer on the Storage Card (Main program folder = \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
- Create a file with your user name + register code, separated with a space, and without CR at the end of the line
(see the included ozi.pwd (open with notePad): you can edit it and replace <username> <registration_code> with your own data)
- Name it Ozi.pwd
- Copy it in \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
- Copy the file ozi.rg1 to \Storage Card\Oziexplorer
- Run Regozi only once after a cold restart.
