Don't know what firmware version made it available but you can certainly create logs in GPX format using version 5.00. Since you are at least 5 or 6 firmware releases behind, you should probably update anyway. The updates are cumulative so you can update directly from 4.10 to 5.00. As always, we recommend doing a backup of your Nuvi's internal storage drive before doing any update. It maybe more important since you would be updating from so far back.

Unless your using backup software that will store hidden folders and files in the archive, be sure to alter the folder view options in Windows to allow you to see the hidden .system folder on the Nuvi as this is where the critical map and other files are stored. You need to insure that hidden files and folders are visible and don't hide Windows system files. Both these settings can be altered in Folder View Options.

A word of "warning" for those who want to keep tabs on their travelling and can't download the tracks every other day, the built-in "track recorder" of the nuvi systems runs out pretty quickly with its 10,000 points. I found out the hard way on my 3790T and wish I had activated the raw logger!

No archiving of tracks?
nuvi 205 creates directory \Garmin\GPX\Archive and saves there older tracks as 1.gpx, 2.gpx etc. Is this next feature, that Garmin forgot to implement in top model?

The raw logger works great on my 1490t. I have tried the procedures for the 2x5 nuvis with my 295w. No luck. Can someone help me? The next page does not come up when I do the 2a 2b 2b 2a sequence

The 37xx also creates the gpx log files in the GPX\Archive directory.

Excellent news, didn't realize it worked like that, duh...I seem to have logs for the past two months, is there a limit on the number of archives it creates, or does it just depend on the available space?

@NanaimoRick : thanks ; I made a backup, upgrade to v5.00 and now I can record the raw track directly in gpx :-)

So Raw logging is available in nuvi 1350 with software v5.00

I believe it's available space, the same limitation you have when you turn Diagnostic Logging on through the Speedo screen. The other difference of course is that the Archive logs are stored in the GPX folder on the Nuvi, which is visible by default while the Diagnostic logs are written to the Logs folder, which is inside the hidden .system folder

I always use the Diagnostic Logging feature, turned on through the Speedo screen, to create a GPX file log. This method creates a new log file very time I turn the Nuvi on and closes it when I turn the 3790 off. This makes it very simple to establish what dates the logs cover using the various GPX file "date stamps".

Maybe someone here can explain how the "Archive" gpx log files created on my 3790 are created because looking at the files and their contents, I have no idea. [ed - moved to the new [TOPIC] Understanding the "Trip Log" of the nuvi]

I have literally gone through all 50+ pages in this thread (and a few other websites) over the past 3-4 days trying to get track logging working on my Nuvi 200w.

I am a district manager in the paper business and this feature would be beyond useful to me. I have routes going down constantly and it would make my job so much easier. Anyway....

I have tried each thing mentioned to others with a similar model to that of my own. Only problem, as of this morning, my PC no longer recognizes when I even plug the unit in. I get the "connected to PC" icon on the unit itself, but nothing shows as connected on the PC. This just started this morning.

Aside from that, when it was recognized, I couldn't get G7towin to tell me what ID I had. It kept giving me the same error messages countless others said they had received. I tried going into g7towin config and doing USB instead of comm and it would give me another error saying the "failed getting USB handle".

I had firmware 3.4, updated with webupdater to 4.0. I want to go back to 3.4, can't find my ID, and really want/need this tracklog option.

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

It does not work on a 200W.

thanks. I also have a 200, but it is my work unit. I'll have to mess with it and get the info for it.

Thanks again for that, with all the reading I did the fact that the 200w wasn't a possible benefactor of this completely eluded me.
