Interesting, thanks for sharing, did some formatting and moved to the "Magellan AIO" forums.
Magellan are hard to keep up with since this new model appears to be a 31xx with a new casing and TTS, but it was barely 3 months old?
Just a quick note, what you call "cold fix" is in fact a "warm fix" (4+ hours without using the GPS) and "warm fix" is "hot fix" (exiting a tunnel). |

| Looks like "same lady with different hat". Same vague map, small fonts. I had 4040 and 3100 returned both since they use to lag behind actual position. Did you notice this on 3220? TTS was not clear when saying long street names or exits. |
NUVI 650
Returned: Magellan 3100, 4040. Nuvi 250, 250W |

@gpspassion: Thanks for the correction. GPS singal in general is quite accurate which it is definitely better than Nuvi 2xx and little off from Harmand Karond GPS 500.
@Rgold: actually, it is better than Nuvi 2xxW for sure. Map drawing seems to be slower that might causing the "lag", but the warning tone is always right on the money!.
* I tends to use: 9742 NE 119th Way Kirkland WA 98034 to check if the map is up-to-date. (yes, magellan did display this address correctly)
* I also tends to look at the: HOV exit on Bellevue,WA ( I-405 / 13B ) that 500 yard of exit 13B. This completed less than a year. ( yes, Megellan also display this clearly )
*** however, this 3225 is really really bad in POI. (I believe, 3225 only got 1.3M POI, instead of higher model w/ 5~6M)
It lack almost all the retial store info, such as BestBuy, Circuitcity, Staples, Target, walmart and etc... Although, it might not effect people like us who know how to adding new POI date. But for average people...they might as well return the unit. |

Thanks for the review, I bought the 3140 about a month ago. the POI's in my model is very good, it finds ALL bJ'S , COSTCO'S, etc. I had some tech suport questions and call them (thats india). I got some indian woman that knows nothing about GPS. She basicly said if it is not working properly send it in for repair. I will never buy another magellan product again! here is my question and maybe you can say if you have the same thing happening on your GPS, since I doubt magellan ever changes the software. when I am driving on a large freeway/expressway and another large freeway/expressway crosses over or under the road I am on the 3140 will say "in 2 miles stay on road then stay on road" ( this is when I am 2 miles away from the crossover). The road on the top of the display and bottom are the same. as I get closer to the crossover it will say "in point 5 miles stay on road then stay on road" when I pass the crossover, if the another major road crosses the road I am driving on it will do the same thing until I pass that major road.
I don't know if the unit is bad or if that is normal for all GPS's .

| That is normal behavior as far as I know. Works same on my 2200t. I believe it does that when you are coming to a major crossroad and is just reinforcing that you just stay where you are through all this interchange and for you not to get concerned that you will have to move over 5 lanes and make an exit soon. I like it personally although in a large interchange area it does get a bit old. |

@don;
I did notice 3225 is bit chatty. But like chicobiker said, it is just reinforcing. However, I didn't notice this "stay on the road and lock on road" yet in 3225. I am returning this unit simply because its lack of POI and my wife can't find "bedbath and beyond"... oh well... |

which costco was this? $199 seems like an excellent price for the 3225. did u try out the voice command features? how does reading out street names compare to the nuvi? for things like staples, od, om, etc. i just use poi-factory.com to add poi's.
how is signal lock speed compared to nuvi, indoor reception? |

@tunafish;
Don't worry, I am ON 3250 now. I should have final test result, soon. Although, there seems to be only 20+ command. Not exactly useful. I can't tell it to "go to BestBuy" or "Go to xxx street". (if you are in 3250 for its voice command, then you might be disapponted)
6 Million POI on 3250 is great! Almost all Retail stores in there. Other than that, I didn't registered for the 3-month TMC yet. ( thinking if I would have to sell it after the test, I better don't do it )

so when r u posting ur 3250 review? I've used the magellan 3100 before and i felt i was notified of turns more quickly than the nuvi350...even though it didn't have text to speech. i'm thinking about getting 3250 to try out side by side w/ my nuvi. magellan seems to have quicker satellite lock than nuvi. benefits of magellan is the route exclusion feature.
in terms of text to speech, what does it say exactly? on nuvi, i think it says: "in 400 ft, turn right on main street". on freeway, nuvi sometimes doens't tell me clearly which lane to stay on.

It appear the TTS use two different person w/ two different volume. Such "in 400 ft, turn right on main street". "in 400 ft, turn right " announce w/ 100% volume by Ms. A "on Main street" annoucne w/ 70% volume by Ms. B |

I have bought a Magellan Maestro 3225 from my local Costco Store the day before yesterday. I have just opened it up this morning and found the USB data cable was missing from the package. Should I return the whole thing to my local Costco and repurchase another one?
Has the same experience happened to anyone else here? What should I do now? Any suggestion is welcome.

| One small question, do you have to know the city a street is in, or can you search by all the streets in a state (like iGuidance)? |
