RBT 2300 data dumper for PDA PPC
================================

Hi All,
As Royaltek has not yet delivered a software to dump the RBT2300 from a PPC, I've decided to write one.
the soft allows to :
- program the configuration
- ERASE the memory
- display the current fix (lat, lon, time)
- list the files stored in the RBT
- dump a file an generate a OZI compatible output file

Here are some screen shots to show it is quite simple to use

http://aeropic.free.fr/H&B/RBT_2300/start.gif
http://aeropic.free.fr/H&B/RBT_2300/start.gif

http://aeropic.free.fr/H&B/RBT_2300/list.jpg
http://aeropic.free.fr/H&B/RBT_2300/dump1.jpg

The soft should work on any device from winCE 2003 with bluetooth.
here it is :
http://aeropic.free.fr/H&B/RBT_2300/RBT2300_install.CAB

let me know if it works and is usefull for you !

Hello all,

If you search a soft to download on Linux or Mac from your rbt-2300 : http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=106198

I encourage you to test also on windows.

Hi All,

Here is a release of the PPC RBT_2300 dumper.
It fixes a bug when the device was in mode 2 (time, pos, Altitude, Velocity)

I've moved the location of the files so that the path is now compatible with this server !

Here are the screenshots :

at start up : select the port number (default is GPSGATE or bluetooth)

during a file dump : >>> xxx / yyy
where xxx = current frame
yyy = number of frames to dump

confirmation for configuration programming ...

the screen bottom line is just for fun :
- it gives the current fix
- the green box is just to indicate that it is still alive (data comming in). if you switch off the GPS, the line indicates timeout ! and the box turns to red.

and the .CAB ;
http://aeropic.free.fr/RBT_2300/RBT_2300install.CAB

btw, denti13, I've tested your soft on windows but I couldn't succeed to see the bluetooth port in the available ports ...
==> unsuccessfull for my RBT2300

bye
Alain

Hi,

Yes, I've connected the bluetooth key to the PC, switched ON the RBT2300 GPS, then launched your prog and I don't see the right COM port (should be COM4 on my PC).

This is the procedure I use for the original Royaltek program and all other programs using BT. Where do I do wrong ?

thanks
Alain

You have lot of com port on your PC :-)

Which version did you use (b2 or b3) ? If you have b3 change for b4.

If you go in Windows Device Manager and browse in Ports did you see your port com ?

Hi Christophe,

I've found my bug ... I had to reboot the PC after install (I don't know why).
Now the soft is working very very fine on windows XP.
I appreciate :
- altitude correction
- presentation of the time of the files to dump (and not only the date)

==> far better than the royaltek software.

Thanks for sharing this

Works with my RBT2300 and iPaq 4700 WM6 device. One suggested feature is to allow a choice of where to save the output file. The output file seems to store in the root folder of the device with a plt extension. I tried to convert the track log using GPS Babel but it failed to process the plt file as an OZI file. Not sure what to use to convert to a nmea file as I need.

Hi Chemonq,

first of all go on aeropic and download the last release :
http://aeropic.free.fr/RBT_2300/RBT_2300install.CAB

Whatever the release, I do not understand why GPSbabel is not able to convert the RBT_2300dumper OZI output...
I use GPSBABEL 1.3.4
- select OZIexplorer as input format
- select the file (all files) xxxxxx.plt
- select NIMEA0183 sentences as output format
- select an output file example "my_file.nmea"
- launch the conversion
that is !
Here is a result obtained at home :

.plt extract !

Hi ascqannape,

I had sometimes some strange behaviours with the bluetooth stack on my PC. Did you try to
- reboot the PC,
- plug in the USB bluetooth key (if it is a key for you too),
- turn ON the RBT2300

I see on your screenshot that you try on port COM41. I've the feeling tha

Hi Chemonq,

Thanks to your question on NMEA, I've found a bug in the OZI file generation (the time was rounded to 2 figures after the decimal dot ...)

now fixed in V1004 here :
