Change name of .gpx file into something else then current.gpx, for example to my.gpx and put this file into \Garmin\gpx\ directory. Nuvi after restart will add content of new file into current.gps.
Alternatively you can read .gpx file with Mapsource and send waypoints to nuvi.
Internal nuvi flash memory is really slow ;-)

SUCCESS !! HOORAY !! YUPEEE !!
Okay, now I nearly have the full picture of the problem.
I lost the user data files on my nuvi250 (dont know how it happened) and tried to restore deleted files with a prog on pc. The recovered current.gpx was placed over the good one, thinking that it will do the trick, but I made the unforgivable mistake not to check if the recoverd file is corrupted or not!
Actually it was corrupted, and the nuvi250 went to Intensive Cure Unit. No maps loading, no USB connection, no cure after system firmware updates.
The assumingly recoverd current.gpx file did not load on mapsource (set filetype as *.gpx else they do not show up), stating it is not reckognized. This is a good way to check the gpx files or uplaod to nuvi as popej said.
Hence before putting files on the nuvi memory, check they are not corrupted and they are compatible, namely by loading them via mapsource.

@neadrenalin
You DA MAN!
I actually upgrade from 2.6 to 3.3 and back to 2.6 using your method. ( I know I am crazy ) But it works. Now, will you able to change the ROM? ;p

marz505, since 2.70 version you may tap anywhere the screen for ~10 seconds when seen 'no maps availavle' and proceed to normal (without maps) work. :) I think in this mode you can connect usb. (I can't remember, but I used it once or twice)
no clue, what do you mean 'Now, will you able to change the ROM?' - Practically all the regions on nuvi can be replaced (this means that flash used), so what do you want to change?
The same problem on nuvi 6xx solved by flashing more fresh service firmware (PouchX did it). Actual link for it - http://e-trex.info/fw/nuvi/610_660/fw_nuvi610_660_en_v410.rar
Also it is needed to order all the success information on one strong instruction topic, I can't do it, because of limited resources and time. |

| Hi Neadrenalin. I successfully flashed 310cure.rgn but I still have the problem that the firmware 3.60 gupdate.gcd re-loads every time after flashing. |

| Maybe I know why 310cure does not work: when the nuvi was still working I updated the firmware to v3.60 with webupdater and now the file gupdate.gcd was loaded in the nuvi's memory. Maybe I need a 370cure version to fool the present bootloader that considers the 370cure version more recent and puts the new software in place of the v3.60 |

yes, you right, please share 3.60 version - to make from it 'rgn' file. I agree with you - ram loader can ignore older bootblock with our changed 'gupdate.gcd' name and stay newer version in flash. I think 3.60 will be enought for me and you to cure. But in my units that I flashed before I noticed always that bootblock changes. |

| I'm asking on an italian forum to send me the gupdate.gcd file, I hope you can convert it into the .rgn format. Otherwise, is it possible to get somewhere in the nuvi 200 the .rgn file directly ? How may I send you this file ? |

Is there a file for the NUVI 760? Mine will not boot nor did a software update help?

| I am not sure if anyone can advise where to download the firmware 4.1. My Nuvi 200 is build on MTK chipset and heard version 4.1 has been optimised for Nuvi 260 which uses this chipset. |

I have the Nuvi 205 wth the typical updater problem that resulted in the "system files missing" error. I noticed that a possible workaround was posted by neadrenalin.
The question I have is whether the following solution will work for the 205?
"After days passed my unit writed : SOFTWARE MISSING. How to recover it?
Answer: Use recovery method from the 1 question and the http://e-trex.info/fw/nuvi/2xx/fw_nuvi2xx_en_v260.rar file. It recovers your unit and gives access to disks. So, you can use WebUpdater or another manual method to upgrade software version then." |
