Hi I checked some other threads and found the .msi that let me go to the July update. I did this on my Vista machine no problem. The BE site says NO to Vista but I wanted to try it anyway. Works like a charm now. AMAAAAZIN skin and extras...Thanks so much. |

It should work providing: You renamed my skin file to DATA.ZIP. You have ran the Belgium map updater beforehand. You have the ctype.dat file in the same folder as the DATA.ZIP file. (Not in the DATA.ZIP file) I'm not sure if the one I have for upload is generic or unique to my unit. Have you made changes in your SYS.txt file. This does not change with my skin. Usually if a skin works on most it's a problem outside the DATA.ZIP file. Paste in your sys.txt text file here for a look? Along the way of doing all these changes I have made some human errors causing great pains and just in-case I will post them. Run a search for DATA.ZIP on the mio and remove any duplicates. I have found that file in the strangest places! If you have made any changes to a .ui file it ma be a slip of the finger in the text. Go back to a known good skin and try again.

Rock - finally got around to loading up your V8 skin on my C520, the bad news is that I get an error message during bootup:
FFUIERROR: Unknown Command Name=[HAS_AUS_MAP] Script [sc_detectSKU] at tick 0
The good news is that I click "OK" and everything seems to continue on normally. I have yet to see any consequences of this error. My C520 is completely stock (not unlocked, when I do that my unit stutters unintelligbly using TTS), but I haven't exercised it very rigorously.
Is the "Belgium" update "required" for your skin to function properly? The skin description did not address that. |

Hi I had to do the Belgium update to get this to work. Also I put the ctype.dat in the data.zip and it works great. Ken |

Before posting just to make sure I deleted my data.zip off my mio and downloaded my skin and it runs without a hitch.
Yes it appears the Belgium update is required. The error you get is commonly fixed when there is a ctype.dat file in the same root as the DATA.ZIP. I have one up on RS for download in my signature. I need someone to see if it will work in a situation like yours. This would be easier than the update if the ctype.dat is all that's required.
Let me know.

therock (and others),
The "ctype.dat" file is a component of the original 'factory' DATA.ZIP file. It's in the top part of DATA.ZIP alongside "FFkeymap.txt" and a bunch of directories (audio, common, etc...)
All I've done to make therock's skins work is copy "ctype.dat" from the same location in my original DATA.ZIP to the same location in the new DATA.Zip about to be installed on my Mio 520.
I did update MioMap to the July 5 version with the 'Belgium' update. If you don't do that, you will almost certainly get the FFUI... error when installing a new skin.

I think “easy” mode not a simple interface change but more like new “routing logic”. Is this option available in Therock mod?
For some strange reason my unit try to avoid highways and guide me to the local road. Even when I choose “fast” mode.
Sorry for my English.

I've been lurking about these forums for a few weeks now, and really appreciate all the effort to bring additional capabilities to our devices!!
I am now thinking of building a custom holder for my car, and am wondering if anyone knows the pinout diagram for the cradle interface. I know there is power, audio out and TMC in. Any ideas on what's what?
This is what I've found so far: "18 pin for cradle connector (power-in 1, mic 1, speaker-out 2, TMC 2, DR 8, GND, ID)."
Thanks.
