Well, I will pay for maps, because they'll come preinstalled, it just anoyes me that Slovenia is not included, and I cannot choose which maps would I like to have on my device. So I will replace paid maps with some maps from "internet meadows". I think that won't cause the company much harm, since I've already paid them for the maps.
But thanks for advice/warning! :) |

Well, Solvenia is inlcuded in the Eastern Europe pack (which I also have, I saw a Slovenia.fbl file...) which you can get on a SD-Card. A friend of mine bought such a device in Bratislava and he said his device has Eastern Europe in the flash and Western Europe as a SD-Card. Try to get the same! The problem is that the really relevant things are the reg changes, and there you can't do a backup BEFORE opening the device. I have all the cards still accessable but the application itself does not work any more.
Btw: that was not just a warning but a HELP ME I need the damned thing

@supremo, thank you for your input. Please stick with me here. No firmware changes here. I did find out I may be wrong about not having the executable, you tell me. I read that Launcher.exe, is explorer.exe. See what you think, my registry screen shot is at the bottom of this post. I need to try and explain in detail what happens when I try to run Windows Explorer. But first I would like to say I believe I caused it. I downloaded and installed some utilities a while back from the English site, (Burton?) I cannot remember the name but I see it mentioned here form time to time. Well it did not work. So I dumped it and there-in is when my problems with WE started. My description: Unlock, "start/programs/windows explorer". The desktop collapses or minimizes to center displaying the windows animation of the four screen sides going to the center of the screen. Sometimes, not every-time there is a single white pixel dot left behind at dead center of the gathering point for the animation of the window minimization. MIOMAP start screen is now shown, no task bar to be seen or called up. It goes into maps and runs just fine. It's like she unlocks herself. Then I have to reboot and install the card again to unlock. But... recently, by accident with the SD unlock card still in place I connected to USB and she active sync'd and the task bar became availble again. So I'm thinking the utilities I tried to run made a change someplace and I would like someone to send me a copy of their exported original registry file so I can try that. Whew! I'm out of air!

Also, it looks like it's running according to task manager. See screen shot. Geesh!

I modyfied Moonbear's script for my needs - it's looks like this:

Everything is OK, except one thing - now, after every reset, the default screen is original Mio's Mainshell, not MioAutoRun's (WinCE) desktop. I must turn it on manually by tapping the taskbar ... How to fix it ??

Maybe it is the GPS settings. I tried to use:

first sorry for my english
Tomtom 6 is working on my mio720. I have same problem as lexab65, when i press menu tomtom is crashing (tomtom navigator.exe exception 0xC0000005, address: 00022790). tomtom ver. 6.201 (7160) I've used same guide aj lexab65. only problem was that My Documents folder was always shown at main memory on Mio and not at "Storage Card".
this registry item helped tomtom to look for maps at "storage card\My Documents"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Explorer\Shell Folders] "My Documents"="\Storage Card\My Documents"
item in moonbear's script didnt help. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Explorer\Shell Folders] "My Documents"="\Storage Card\My Documents"

| Hi I have been following this forum and am about to try to unlock my c520 to use with my registered igo with Europe maps that I now use on a pda . Can somebody please give me a short step by step instruction ? If I put Moonbears beta6v2 files on an SD card and put it in the c520 will it automaticallu unlock it ? Can I just put in my sd card with igo program and maps and find the igo install file in file explorer after that and install it and it will work ? Once unlocked it will always stay unlocked ? Will the existing miomap software and maps that came with the unit work as usual even after the unlock ? Thanks |

"Unlock" in this Forum means allowing access to the underlying WinCE operating system. Unlocking will not allow you to access "locked" maps.
However, the answer to most of your questions is Yes. If the SD card is inserted and has Moonbear's unlocking files, a hard reset will unlock the C520. You will probably need to rerinstall the iGO software as there may be some registry modfications (but not being an iGO user, I can't say for sure). Once it is installed, you'll need to create .reg files that become part of the unlocking code, so that a hard reset restores them.
Miomap and the iGO maps associated with it work fine after the unlock, although there is a heavier burden on the CPU and some folks (myself included) experience moderate to severe voice stuttering when running MioMap from the unlocked Desktop. YMMV, it looks like it depends on your ROM version.
If your iGO maps are the same "generation" as the Miomap map set, you may be able to 'share' maps of the same country between the two programs by putting all the maps (both use Teleatlas .fbl files) on the SD card in a \MAPS folder and/or by making a Registry change. It will depend on the licenses you have in place, but there's usually no need to have the same map in two different places. |

| Thank you I have an SD card with IGO that was purchased overseas and has overseas maps . I am sure that it has a seperate license from the one that comes with the Mio here in the US .When I use it with a Mio pda you have to install it once to the PDA and then the program runs off the sd card . Since the license files are probably different I assume I wont be able to run the maps with the Mio program but only when I run them in the IGO program I bought overseas for overseas use . Do I put moonbears files on the igo SD card or on a seperate SD card and unlock it first and then install the igo to install ? Will I ever have to re unlock again ? |
