Is the v7 really less effective than the v6.2 unlock ? I have used the 6.2 successfully but would like to try the v7 and wonder if at this point waiting might be the best. With the fact that this unit is 'widescreen' will this prevent 'potrait' mode apps from running properly? Often rotate.exe was all that was needed for the c310x but not sure about portrait on c520???!!

Hello everyone and thank you all for good tips on unlocking mio c520.
From what I understand, using Beta5 I can unlock my c520, but my questions are:
will everything from my original mio software wor, for example bluethooth, etc.
and also if I want to go back to my original factory settings a look of mio c520, how do I do this?

Hi all!
Thanks to everyone and all the tips to unlock the 520.
I did this and it works great, but I have some more questions...
It's very hard for me to read and understand all these treads in english, so sorry, if these infos I'm asking for are anwered somewhere on all the pages.
I installeld now my good old TomTom 5.1 on the SD Card, when I want to start it, eg. via the Filemanager I get the errormessage "Cannot find TomTom Navigator (or one of its components). The same with MN6.
Do I something wrong, if yes, is it possible to help me with some hints??

I cannot run windows explorer in any unlock version. I figure I did something bad.
Can look at my .dll file list below and see if I am missing something.

I got my 1 day old C520 unlocked today with moonbear beta6.2 (thanks!). At the main navigation screen of Miomap, when I tap "Menu" I will hit WinCE taskbar "Start" button as well. How can I make it so that taskbar doesn't show up when I run Miomap? I cannot disable it completely because I need it to access the WinCE interface when I first boot up and mainshell.exe loads.
Also, when I first do the unlocking bootup, I would get a msg like "sysinfo or one of its components could not be found". Why is that? I updated the shortcuts to point to the right sysinfo too. Sysinfo will load fine when I run it manually, but I would like to run automatically.

How do you manually close the WinCE interface so the taskbar doesn't show up when you run MioMap?
My Win Explorer runs fine. You seem to have all the DLLs |

I unlock and go directly into task bar settings and "un-select" Always on top. I then open miomaps from the desktop.
You can tap the bottom of the map all you want and it will not popup in the way.
This is why the task bar pops up, it's on top.
Going back to CE requires you back of miomap and you are there.
This is better to me than popping the card in and out and hard booting.
I believe I may have a registry problem from experimenting with various utilities. Can I get you to do a registry export and email it to me? I want windows explorer to run again.

I run since a month a modified v5 v6, without any problem.
In the unlock I copy all utils and sysinfo to "\Program files".
I don't copy any DLL to the "\Windows" neither to "\Program files" directory.
No problem at all and windows explorer runs.
For your test with explorer.
Just create a MioAutoRun.scp with a single line in it. contents:
"\windows\explorer.exe"
Do a hard reset and switch your unit back on (to test with a clean unit)
When you insert the SD card Windows Explorer should run.
I use this single line semi unlock to simple activate ActiveSync
(the contents of the scp file is of course different)

I'm missing the executable for it.
I tried dedevaho's scrip test and no good. I decided to start from scratch.
I formatted my SD card.
Extracted v6.2 un-locker to it.
Now it unlocks and runs smoother. For the first time it USB connected and I can see it as a drive in my computer.
Upon examination I can see there is no executable for windows explorer!
Can anyone send me a copy of the file?

Hi guys,
I'm waiting for my Digiwalker C520t, but it doesn't have Eastern Europe maps (I'm from Slovenia), si I was wondering if someone would be so kind and give me a few hints on how to unlock my Mio, so that I could upload my maps. I'm not interested in using it as a computer, but only as a navigation device, so I don't need any skins, mediaplayer replacement or ansthing else. I just need simple step by step instructions on how to unlock and upload my map.

But a long time ago I downloaded some emulators and a full collection of WinCe mobile 5.0 files (everything).
And hurray Explorer.exe is with it and it is even more recent than the one on the C520.
I'll send it with Email (as soon I get your Email address).

@Aleedee - Welcome to the Forum
"Unlocking" in our context means accessing the underlying Operating System (in this case WinCE 5.0). What you want to do is unlock the maps which apparently your C520t does not have a legal license for. This subject is not discussed in this Forum, and further inquiries or PM's will get you banned (see the Forum rules when you signed up).
@rock - although I haven't checked, it sounds like explorer.exe is in ROM (the \Windows folder has a mixture of ROM based and My Flash Disk-based files. The former cannot be copied w/o a ROM dump. Did you do any firmware upgrades ?? |

HI everybody,
thanks for all the tips how to unlock. Well, I did so (AutoRun v6) and now I have a small Problem: MioMap does not start any more... the device does the normal starting procedure and then, when it should start ("starting...") it just quits  no matter if I call Miomap via desktop icon, explorer or Main Shell... any idea what to do? Is there any rollback? deleting the files is not a problem, but I dont know the old reg entries.
PS: setting back to factory default doesn't solve the problems... |
