| Pretty similar ... I did manage to get "full bars" on Friday (May 4) for a few minutes, but then lost everything again. I went ahead and shipped it to Garmin since I already had an RMA. |

I bought a Nuvi 310D 6 weeks ago. It lasted just 4 days before getting the fail to acquire satellite bug. No amount of resets on the rear button, or resets with the top right corner and power button held together would cure it. I took it back to the store (Halfords in UK) and the shop assistant did everything he could and still couldnt fix it so replaced it. The guy admitted they'd had several back with this exact bug.
The replacement Nuvi310D worked then for 3 weeks and stopped today with exactly the same problem. So, I took out my old faithful garmin quest and it's picking up the satellite signals just fine. Both sitting side by side on the car dashboard. Quest works, Nuvi cant find any satellites. I'm now outside my store's policy of 28day replacement so I'll have to contact Garmin UK for some answers.
This Nuvi is a piece of crap not worth the Garmin name. Two items with exactly the same faults within weeks of being purchased!! |

| Add me to this list. Not getting reception started last week. I am sending back to Costco thank god for their liberal return policy. I do not think I will get a replacement. |

I've got my RMA too, hope to have a working (!!) replacement soon.
Can someone from Garmin explain this mass failure? |

Can some that have been around on the forum tell if they have seen this. It seems that there are mostly new user posting here.
I have had my Nüvi 660 since September 06 and not seen any drop out.

| There used to be a lot of posts about a problem that was termed "zombie mode" but slowly those posts seemed to disappear http://tinyurl.com/298sa3 Maybe Garmin is having some quality problems as they try to ramp up their production levels but it still seems like a very small portion of nuvis sold. |

If it is any consolation, when I added an external antenna to my unit (Gillson MCX2), the “Acquiring Satellites” problem never occurred again.
Of course, I’m now carrying the external antenna everywhere I go. But I have little confidence that sending my nüvi back to Garmin will correct the problem given some of the experiences posted here and elsewhere. |

Does it make any difference if you change your WAAS setting?
Off if presently "on" and vice versa? |

Strange... I had exactly the same problem, but in Denmark and on april 27 and 28. My 660 started falling out on the 27. and on the 28 it just wouldn't lock onto sattelites.
Today I got a new 660 from the Danish Nüvi agency.
I was running the 3.70 firmware. |

Sorry: I was running the 3.60! And the unit was less than 3 months old. |

| Yes, I have noticed the same problem on my nuvi 350 I got from amazon about a month ago. It takes way too long (5-10 mins) to acquire satellites even under clear skies/stationary. |

| I received my unit back yesterday ... actually, a replacement unit. The included diagnosis basically said they couldn't get the other one to work. I used the replacement today and so far, so good. |

Glad to hear that you've received a working unit. I sent my nuvi 660 back to the shop last week and was told this week that it would take 2 - 3 weeks before I'll get it back. IMO it will likely be a replacement unit and I wouldn't be surprised if I get the same diagnosis. I just believe that most, if not all of us, were unlucky enough to purchase "lemons" from bad batches of units. Hopefully my replacement will be a good one. |
