You would think that would have been available 3 weeks ago.

Thank you Garmin for the fun free Christmas vehicles. I was a little sad when I saw the sleigh in action and found out that in 3d view you mostly get an unflattering rear view of the sleigh. It is not much better in top-down 2d view, but here you get to see the blades/runners sticking out in front of the sleigh. I think the sleigh looks best viewed from the side, but you can only get a glimpse of that as you make a turn while in 3d mode. I do have a lot of fun showing off my Nuvi 350 and asking "What do you think that red thing is?" I have three levels of hints in my guessing game: It's a vehicle. Garmin gave it out free this week. It's a Holiday themed vehicle.

So far only 2 out of 20 have guessed correctly after hearing all clues. Most popular guess is "plane/flying thing" closely followed by the space shuttle.

I don’t want to sound unappreciative. I’m just sharing my feelings and thoughts, and how I make the best of the gift from Garmin. I use it as an excuse to show off my Garmin GPS to anybody around me and it almost always knocks their socks off. Next year I vote for a reindeer (Rudolph with red nose) vehicle with or without a Santa rider. Other ideas are Santa on skis, Santa in a row boat (then he would be facing backwards for best view in 3d viewing mode), a snow man on his back facing up (good for top down 2d view). If I could I would model these vehicles myself.

I have heard an unconfirmed rumor that beginning early on the morning of December 25, any nuvi using this new vehicle icon will only be able to navigate due north.

Do you think that we could have an icon for the Centauro Tank Destroyer of the Italian Army?

I want one [g].

But looks like it might be tough to get good satellite reception from inside the vehicle.

Right, and I'm not sure how tasteful it would be in times of war...some people aren't riding in these tanks for the fun of it as we type away in the forums. End of discussion on this particular suggestion.

This just in from Chazz8:

New Garmin Vehicle, sports car, tank, and RC cars

Straight from Garmin Blog at garmin.blogs.com , click on "Pimp Your PND post":
"Ever wished you could drive a sleek sports car? Maybe tear up the roads in a tricked-out RC car? Or perhaps even negotiate rush hour in an M1A2 Main Battle Tank? Now you can... sort of. We've introduced four new customized vehicle icons, free for your downloading pleasure.

Just go to the nuvi 200 minisite, and click on "extras" and then click on the icon you'd like to download. There's a tutorial here if you need it. Have fun!"

Nuvi 200 minisite: www.garmin.com/nuvi200/ click on extras
intall instructions : www.garmin.com/vehicles/installation.jsp

So, I like the info provided at the Garmin Blog. I have been going to the Nuvi 200 minisite for two days and clicking on extras only to find "... vehicle downloads available soon." Now I get four vehicles in after clicking on the extras tab. Click on the vehicle you want to download and install it to have new vehicle fun on your Nuvi.

Thank you Garmin for the nice vehicle downloads.

Am I too late?

I came to the site and kept getting " vehicle download available soon". Were you able to download the vehicles? Is there a way for you to share? I love the tank.

Works fine for me. You go to www.garmin.com/nuvi200/ and click on Extras in the bottom right hand side of the display. A new screen will appear and the vehicles will be on the left hand side. Click on any of them and it will open the download dialogue for your browser. Save the ZIP file to your PC and follow the install instructions at www.garmin.com/vehicles/installation.jsp . There is a separate ZIP file for each vehicle (tank, RC, and Sports Car).

Khanh;

I just visited the site and got to the picture of the four vehicle icons by clicking on extras. The site uses lots of flash so I don't think it is a refresh issue. I'm sure that you will get to the download icon if you try again.

If you click on "introducing nuvi" you will get to see a snowmobile vehicle icon in the last few seconds of the movie. I wonder when they plan to release that icon. Are they saving it for next winter or perhaps a new outdoors vehicle GPS unit. Oh wait, that would be the Zumo. Anyway the snowmobile looks really good.
