Hello
Please guys help me with the rom image of any of:
- Typhoon 3200Go or MyGuide 3200
- Airis T920
- Clarion Map360
- Medion PNA510T
- Falk N-Serie (N30, N40, N80, N120, N200)
All types are based on the same platform and are having the same bootloader

By accident I have erased the ROM of my Typhoon 3200Go.
The rom contains two files:
- winceimg.bin (this is the one I need)
- winceimg.cks (this file I can generate based on the first one)

Thanks a lot,
iulian.

Its pretty hard to accidentally erase a ROM! Im afraid the Typhoon ones only come from Typhoon themselves, ive never been able to get hold of any.

Is it a "clone" of another device? in which case the other ROM may work. Its probably a bespoke .net 4.2 image, or possible a 5.0 core files image. The WinCE sticker on it will tell you more. However, to get it to work with the Typhoon software you will need the original one.

If it ain't broke - don't fix it!

@Compufix:
In the top of this thread there is a list of devices which are based on the same platform. The platform is Mitac PNA510T. The ROM from any of the listed devices will be good.

@pigeon:
The file is winceimg.cks (not chk).
The content of the cks file is:
binSize : 17230452
checksum: 0x605EB657

The firs value is the size reported by Windows.
The second value you can generate it with winhex:
- open the OS image file
- goto Tools->Compute Hash->"Checksum (32 bit)"

Have fun,
iulian.

Just a hunch, but have you tried the Medion USA site? I know they issue updated roms on occasion, such as they did for the 150 "German to English fix"

If it ain't broke - don't fix it!

Falk N-Serie is perfect.

These are the values directly received from Typhoon support:
WINCEIMG.CKS - R11
binSize : 17500688
checksum: 0x665F9496

WINCEIMG.CKS - R12
binSize : 17536080
checksum: 0x66AA384E

UBOOT.CKS
binSize : 601472
checksum: 0x26C6BF1

Still, I have checked some devices on mediamarkt store and the ROM should be of 23Mb.

If you succeed to extract any image, please compare it with this one:
http://www.ppc-welt.info/ppc-welt/downloads/TS3040_R05_Update.zip

For comparison, you can use winhex. The first 512 bytes should look almost identical with the ones from winceimg.bin

get_it,a testdumper and osimagetool,osimagetool don't work.
i think all the tools dont rip the complet rom from this kind of pna.
for normal older models it works fine.
the only result with the 512 byte patch is that the file try to flash, but its stoppt. romfiles with 32mb make the error file is to long,20mb files starts with the test, thats ok than it show writing to rom,at this point the pna hangs up

After playing a bit, it seems that the oscar boot loader doesnt like most of the programs already mentioned thats possibly why its hanging. Just have to keep looking, as I said earlier, the Mitac UBOOT images are not available anywhere, only by sending it into Mio support to get it reflashed. I have used DNW by samsung to unload images in the past which seems to work 99% of the time

If it ain't broke - don't fix it!

In am in contact with somebody who wrote a tool "pdocread".

The app. "pdocread" did not extract the ROM and to find out the cause he wrote for me a small application to execute it on a working Typhoon 3200 GO.

I don't have anymore access to a working device, and that's why I would like to ask you to run this application for me.
The executable is called "bksamsungflash.exe" and I can provide it to you by mail or another way.

These are Willem instructions:
1) copy bksamsungflash.exe to your device
2) prun \bksamsungflash \sd card\nandimage.nb

this should write the first 64M of the nand to nandimage.nb

... i hope that the os image is at the start of the nand.
... other wise the bksamsungflash.log file will tell me where tofind it.

The "prun" executable can be found here: http://nah6.com/~itsme/itsutilsbin-20061103.zip
