This is interesting - I see the screenshot on the web site - but I can't seem to figure out the configuration. Maybe part of the problem is that we're having an ice storm, so I don't want to be standing outside where I have a GPS fix. I have copied a JPEG of an area map to the Noni directory. Now, I need to set the center coordinates? Is that in degrees and decimal degrees? And then the total width of the map in meters? Anything else we need to know?

Hello, >This is interesting but I can't seem to figure out the configuration.
If your configuration is good, you should have at least the GPS time changing on the Satellites windows when your GPS is activated.
>I have copied a JPEG of an area map to the Noni directory.
I don’t think it is the best place to store your jpeg as standard Windows file browser doesn’t scan Program Files. I’d better save your jpeg in \My Documents or any sub-folder of \My Documents, in a storage card or any folder of a storage card (it depend of your Windows version).
>I need to set the center coordinates? Is that in degrees and decimal degrees? Yes. >And then the total width of the map in meters Yes, you have to know the width of your map.
I’m working to simplify the calibration.
If you don’t have seen it, but I remember you that I’ve created a small how-to based on Google Map:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Faeguerre.free.fr%2FPublic%2FPocketPC%2FNoniGPSPlot%2Ftutos.php%3Ftuto%3D_tuto_2.php&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8

Ahhh, merci beaucoup. I had worked out the rest of the configuration, it was just the JPEG I had trouble with. The tutorial page and calculator were a great help. I didn't realize that it was based on Google maps. I now have a map of my area loaded, and I think it's almost calibrated correctly. I may have been a little bit off in the screen capture. Thanks very much. --Newstech Baltimore, MD, USA

Uh-oh, one more problem. I don't see it saving the JPEG map settings. Is it supposed to do that, or are you still working on that part? --Newstech Baltimore, MD, USA

I love the new Map function, and I have created a map for myself in New Orleans where I live. It works fantastic, except that as soon as I close the application the map is gone. It doesn't save it and the next time I open Noni, I have to laboriously re-enter the data for the map. What's the deal and how can I get it to save?
Oh, je comprende, must donate. OK, I am sending in my donation, let's hope this works. |

Noni,
I am new here and just tried the English 2.6b1 version on Mio C310x. It works. I have one question: I could turn off the display from menu/tools, but I could not turn on the display, unless I powered off and on the unit. Can you tell me how to turn back on the display? Is there a way to assign a button to do it?
Thanks a lot! |

For you Mio 310X users, have you been able to use NoniGPSPlot with SiRF rather than NMEA? I can't get NoniGPSPlot to detect any satellites when I use SiRF.
The reason I'd like to try SiRF is to turn off the Static Navigation, which I think would make this more accurate for hiking or geocaching. Am I missing something? Is there a way to turn off Static Navigation on the Mio without switching to SiRF?

Hello, @webbie My problem is that not all PDA process the same way the turn screen off button. For some of them, you have to use the power on/off button. For other, you have to tape on the screen, and for others, I don’t know. I’m working on it...
@ronbellar NoniGPS does not process SiRF. But StaticNavigation is not liked to SiRF: you can switch Static Navigation Off in SiRF and back in NMEA. It’s the way I processed...

I'm trying to understand some strange behavior when switching from one GPS program to another. Can you tell us which NMEA messages NoniGPSPlot is watching? Thank you. |

Hi Noni,
In the TCPMP player, one can assign "turn off display" to a button by pressing that button in setting up. I was wondering if you can make NoniGPSplot to do the same thing.
Thanks! |
