Anyone else experiencing a traffic signal outage in Toronto/GTA? I wasn't able to get a signal at all today (well, morning and evening to be precise).
I just updated my c550's software to the latest version (6.50) yesterday evening and am wondering if it may be at fault... |

| Same here for a nuvi 760 updated to 3.10 yesterday...no TMC signal today in Toronto. It could be a coincidental outage though. |

| Thanks Dewi - now we need to hear from someone who hasn't performed an update. We'll see what happens tomorrow - otherwise I'll try a downgrade. |

Yep - no traffic signal for me and my 3.00 Nuvi 760 in Toronto today either.
Didn't realize 3.10 was out for the 760, anything interesting with it?

The nuvi 7XX 3.10/StreetPilot c5XX 6.50 updates are very minor...
Changes made from version 3.00 to 3.10 (or 6.40 to 6.50): -Improve handling of the situation where overlapping map data is present on the device. -Fixed fleet management interface route calculation issue. |

| I noticed that it wasn't working yesterday and it's not working at the moment either. I've got a TomTom One 3rd edition. |

| I've been watching it for a couple of days from the Hamilton area. Usually works in the morning. The lights been orange for the last 2 days. It turned green for a few seconds this morning. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing it. I've upgraded to 3.10 but I don't think that's the problem. |

| If the problem is at the data source, does anyone know whom to contact to notify them that there is a problem? |

So is anyone in the GTA actually paying for this service?
My free 3 month trial is going to end in a few weeks so I need to make a decision. Based on what I've seen so far, I will probably NOT continue with a paid subscription. As much as the service is needed in the GTA, it has been far too incomplete and inaccurate to really be of any value. No weekend, evening service compounded by random weekday outages like yesterday only make things worse.
My feeling is it should be a free service for everyone with a compatible receiver. However, the new Dash Express GPS technology (which I believe Tom Tom is going to do) is indeed something I would pay for once it matures. I think it would be far more valuable given its highly detailed data.
Anyone care to comment?

Here's a contact at Clear Channel who has answered some Toronto-specific questions for me in the past:

| I currently don't have an antenna to receive TMC, and I'm not in Tornto right now (on vacation). Could someone contact that person to find out what's up? |

Well, I have no problem getting the signal but there doesn't appear to be any events.
I've been corresponding with a rep from Total Traffic on another issue (no events for the Gardiner between the Humber River and the DVP) and she reports that their FM transmitter has gone down. They have personnel onsite trying to fix it. They're also adding a backup so this doesn't happen again.

I just spoke with Garmin because I was not receive any signal on my Nuvi and thought it was my particular unit. Garmin indicated that there has been a problem with the traffic channel over the last few days and Clear Channel is currently repairing the transmitter.
