I finally completed the GPS Map Database.
Here it is: World Map Database (no direct linking please, link to this thread instead)
It has every country listed and links to maps that are suitable for GPS Navigation and calibration. It's split into 2 sections. The first section has a list of commercial products that can either do GPS navigation or at least route planning. The second section are free maps all over the web that can be downloaded and calibrated. I have not included any maps that are too vague (like CIA fact book maps etc...) so all maps are suitable for navigation.
I wasn't able to find maps for every single country out there, so some are still blank. But so far there are over 2000 maps, covering the majority of the world.
Feel free to post new links that I have not found and will add them to the database.
I am still planning to put together a write up with some tips on calibration, general databases that are available out there with lat/long locations and some other useful stuff.
gpspassion. May be you can add this to the website with an interface, so that it can be interactive?

Sure. Either one is ok with me. By the way, I keep adding a few new things almost everyday, so I keep reuploading the file. So because of that, linking the spreadsheet it self is probably better, otherwise it won't get updated as often. |

habot. I checked the web site, but I don't see any maps there available for download? I did a link to where Norwegian Garmin maps can be purchased. |

No download, juste list of coverage by Country. Never see downloadable Garmin Mapping Product :-( (except TOPO for USA ?) But for Belgium, here is 2 maps with communication roads (1/800.000 and 1/1.200.000) and some maps with geographics entities from IGN Belgium (Free for personal use), all calibrated in tiff format.

| I reviewed these. Some are already in the database. Others I'll add in. Thanks. |

Same for Belgium (18 century old map 1/20.000) : http://patrimoine.met.wallonie.be/cartothèque/ (djvu file format)

habot. Thanks. I think these maps are too old for the database. The purpose of the database is to point users to maps that they can actually use for GPS navigation if they travel, so maps older than 1950s won't really help. |
