I have a complete address list for all the Swiss Chalet in canada and U.S.in xls format but no coordinates.If someone can convert to coordinates,I will send them the file.(not familiar enough with this to complete it for posting on POI) |

| I now have the file completed,but having trouble posting it using the instuctions on the web site.I converted it to a csv file and then to a zip file. |

I guess I was semi-successful on sending the file and didn"t know it.
You can delete one of them,they are duplicates.When sending the file to (http://www.gpspassion.com/_safileup1.asp),It was in French so I wasn"t sure if it was sent. |

Hi,
I renamed "johndh_POICATEGORYNAME.zip". New name is:
"johndh_Swiss_Chalet.zip". I removed space character.
I put your file in a protected directory.
I modified your first post.

I took a look at the CSV file and it's formatted incorrectly for use with a Garmin GPS.
1) The first line should be removed as it's the titles rather than a data line.
2) The Lat and Long fields are in wrong order.
3) There are too many fields. The "4th field" should be enclosed with quotes as there's so much punctuation in it. POI Loader expects a maximum of 4 fields, each separated by a comma. If any field contains a comma (or line feeds to improve display formatting in the GPS screen) it must be in quotes.
Example from CSV file:
bg_lat,bg_long,Address,Prov/State,Postal/Zip,Phone,Del/Pick-up,INTERSECTION
51.1045,-114.0555,5010 4TH ST. N. E.,"CALGARY, AB",T2K 5X8,TEL: 403-275-1642 ,1-866-439-0439 ,INTERSECTION: MCKNIGHT & EDMONTON TRAIL
Should be:
-114.0555,51.1045,"5010 4TH ST. N. E.","CALGARY, AB,T2K 5X8,TEL: 403-275-1642 ,1-866-439-0439 ,INTERSECTION: MCKNIGHT & EDMONTON TRAIL"
But there's really too much data in the 4th field to display in most GPS screens.
I think it would be better like this:
-114.0555,51.1045,Swiss Chalet,"5010 4th St NE
Calgary, AB
403-275-1642"

When you uploaded file: johndh_Swiss_Chalet_Garmin.zip you destroyed the file uploaded by johndh.
I renamed your file: Dewi_Swiss_Chalet_Garmin.zip: here.

Hi jlb,
I'm not sure how I destroyed johndh's file as it has a different file name than johndh's (I added "_Garmin"). Perhaps you could explain how it occurred so it doesn't happen again.
Also, I did not want to take credit for the file as johndh did the work. All I did was concatenate some fields and delete a couple of columns. I haven't verified or changed the original data at all.

You are right. You don’t destroyed johndh's file. I din’t see that you added _Garmin.
However you don’t have to create a file beginning with johndh_

There are new location at York Mills Rd & Scarsdale Rd, North York, ON

This location is not listed on Swiss Chalet's own web site. I do not know street # on York Mills.
