Sorry about the LL mixup HPATLIK. Speedtraps in lake Ontario would be very bad indeed!! I hope the north Whitby traps (Brooklin) will help everyone as the OPP was just making a killing there this weekend!!

hpatlik,

I just downloaded the latest update from the direct link - you might want to update again:

The speedtrap .csv file has the same co-ordinates for the final two entries:

-79.53586 43.62355 "N Queen St & Vansco St@60"
-79.53586 43.62355 "Dundas St W & Indian Grove@50"

However, the Dundas St. W. and Indian Grove location I don't believe is a speed trap - it's for catching people making illegal left turns during the rush hours (when no left turns are allowed) from Keele St. SB to Dundas St. W. EB. We'd need a new category for this..

Thanks!

328toronto: Have you seen a radar trap at the Dundas St W & Indian Grove POI? or do police turn over drivers for illegal turns?

Thanks

Hi haptlik,
i see the cops almost every day at Dundas St W & Indian Grove .. they look for both illegal turns and speeding .. i also saw them a couple of times with radar cams ... cars get pulled over there all the time ... i belive its worth adding an alert there

i agree with mister e. that we should think about a new category covering "illegal turns" ... I now a couple of spots in Toronto people get nailed all the time ... is there a way to customize/categorize the alert message to actually show what type of alert it is ?

Yes, the title bar message (for Garmin Nuvi) can be anything. The street name appears when a POI is activiated. So I could customize the prompt to display, for example, "Come to full stop". There would be no speed indicator (@xx).

A correction:

-79.5765 43.6425 "Burnhamthorpe Rd & Triburham Place@60"

This is a 50Km/h zone.

-79.51257 43.68372 "Eglinton Ave W & Scarlett Rd"

This is a 60Km/h zone. Never seen a speed trap here, but you never know.

Hi aGPSuser,

Thanks for the additions. I was checking the cordinates on Google Earth and in Medicine Hat, G.E. is showing the road ouline skewed quite away from the aerial photograph location of the roads so I am not sure if your co-ordinates are correct. Usually, the computer generated road outline is the correct long/lat but from what I can see, this is may not be the case here. Let me know when you drive by with the updated POI installed if they show up at the correct spot.

Thanks,

HPatlik

Hi pir2,

Did you see RLC signage or just the cameras? Are the cameras covering all directions? As I mentioned previously, the cameras are not activiated until the City puts up a sign. I will add them to the file.

HPatlik

I pass through York Mills and Leslie every day and there is no RLC sign there. I also checked on the web site to see if these locations are listed but there is no info about them (see here: http://www.toronto.ca/transportation/redlight_cameras/locations.htm).

I am wondering if these shouldn't be removed from the database.

The cameras are there and will be activated once the signs go up which I suspect will be soon. I contacted city to confirm this.
