Quick question:
When installing this POI collection, should I load them in using the "express" mode or should I manually specify the alert proximity settings? If it's the latter, can you recommend a good default? |

Hi,
Use express mode. The speed limit is provided in many of the locations, so having one default setting will cause problems. Use manual where you have separate files for a given speed limit.

HPatlik,
I have a couple of minor edit suggestions for the Speed Traps file:
1. "Pharmacy Ave & Lawrence Ave" (no speed limit given) -> This one is incorrectly located right at the intersection of Victoria Park & Lawrence. Although there's a red light camera at that intersection, I don't think there's ever a speed trap there. I don't recall any speed traps being within an intersection anyway. If there's an intersection of two roads with two different speed limits (such as Pharmacy @ 50kph and Lawrence @ 60kph) it's not helpful to have an alert at the intersection. I suggest deleting this entry unless it can be corrected or validated.
2. Moore St. and Bayview Ave (no speed limit given) -> this one is also at an intersection. It's probably for one that someone spotted along Bayview Ave. If this one could be more accurately placed, I could confirm the speed limit on Bayview there.

| ...also I was wondering why some Red Light Camera locations indicate a direction (e.g. NB, SB, etc.). Don't they capture violations from every direction? |

Hi Dewi,
Yes, the GPS (such as Garmin) will alert from any direction (regardless of whether there is a camera or not) but some red light intersection have cameras only for a particular direction. An intersection is not necessarily tracked in all four directions. Usually, the municipality has a sign to warn you. I believe MIO GPS can be programmed for a particular direction.
Those that have submitted a RLC location have also provided the direction the alert applies to and I have included that in the listing. I can't verify every intersection so if you find an error, please send me a note).
If the direction is not provided, just assume that all 4 directions are taking your pic and STOP.

| I have been driving in town (Vancouver) with GPS even i know some roads well. I just want to get warning for the red lights and speed camera intersections. It works fantastic and I drive more cautious now. Thank you friends! |

Hi hpatlik,
Before I update the latest, the red light sign (icone) was like a real light with red, green and yellow, but it changed to a grey camera sign. I like the redlight icon. How can I change it?
Thank you very much.

There are icons? How do I get them to display on a Garmin Nuvi 660?

Patwen:
My zip fles includes a Canada - Red light & cameras.bmp file. If you do not want my camera as the graphic, delete this file from the folder that gets uploaded to your gps when using POILoader. Place your original icon file with the red, yellow& green lights.
jbedford:
If you place the *.bmp file in the same folder as the *.gpx files, the graphic icon (a grey redlight camera) are automatically loaded with POILoader and will display at the intersection on your 660.
