Thanks Jaluna, now I'm running 2 GPS programs on my Loox
Could you describe what "autostart" should do please? Ticking that causes PortSplitter to quit shortly after it's been double clicked, but no splitting appears to work then.
Thanks again for a useful program. |

Hello,
"autostart" as their name says, start the splitter when the program is launched or the pda is softreseted.
By the way, I will update all versions the next monday because a problem has been detected that can cause memory problems if the program is run very long time. Version 1.10 has a memory leak that I already have fixed.
Best regards, JAL http://www.gpsmeter.com/

I thought "autostart" should do as you say, but on this Loox pna, it causes Port Splitter to forget all but 1 of the new outputs, so for example, if I add com 7 & com 9, reset, only 7 is available as a new, usable port. Also, com 7 is correctly shown with "PortSplitter" after the com 7 text, but com 9 has no appended string.
If I do not use autostart, the program works ok, with both ports showing "PortSplitter".
Also, the Loox is a little awkward to enter "ok" or "cancel" as it's often hard to find the taskbar to bring up the keyboard. This means that if I click on "About", I sometimes have to reset to get rid of that display, as PortSplitter will not quit otherwise (I assume the "About" screen window is a sub-task within PortSplitter?). Would it be possible to have that screen displayed for a few seconds, then disappear without input from the user, or is that rather difficult to program?
I'll check for a new release on Monday, thanks. |

jaluna: I use your ssplitter on my airis t920 (ce .net 4.2 core) and it is ok. but I have a request, is it possible to run it silently : I mean run it without user interaction with predefined (in config files) ports for example split com1 intp com4 and com5 speed= 4800bps, start the splitting and write to a log file the result, my secret wish is to add your software to a modified ROM so that it runs automatically without installation and without user interaction thru a GUI... |

Hello raxy,
I think that you can do yet that using the autostart function and writing into registry (see my keys) the configuration and the autostart option byte to ON.

I need to restore and autostart PortSplitter whenever my PNA boots : be it cold or warm boot. Difference is that cold boot clears all non-factory registry contents and also clears system directories from user added files.
When your software is installed from the cab, what are the deployed files and what are the reg keys created ? When I check autostart, what does this do to the registry and to the application's files ?
For now, I cannot find how to prepare and start PortSplitter in the background at every coldboot without intalling the cab file, running and configuring the app thru its GUI.

Hello,
I suppose that if you can recompile a ROM, then you know how add to the image the files and left the registry configured.
You can take the files from your pda, once installed. Add these two files to your ROM 1) portsplitter.exe in Program Files 2) extvsplit.dll in Windows folder
About the registry. Once you have configured porsplitter and checked autostart, see how the registry is and compile the ROM writing these keys into HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\JAL\\Port Splitter
Port Baud Autostart

Ok, your answer is crystal clear, I first will write a script to restore the exe,dll and registry keys&values but what to do just after that ? Will starting portsplitter.exe (without sending any keypress to its buttons) is the be the only thing to do ?
Tks.

After that you need that portsplitter begin on every reset, thus call it after all others services are started. Is all. Once portsplitter is started, if the "autostart" byte is set, then will start the splitted ports and minimize to tray icon.

A few obervations : After intallation of the cab, stating of the exe, configuration of ports, speed and autostart and starting the splitting; - I can find no JAL keys in HKCU - I can find only these 2 JAL keys in HKLM : InstallPath and MajorVersion - I can find "JAL Port Splitter" (in HKLM) with these keys... Instl CmdFile CabFile InstDirCnt InstallDir, and finally InstlDir !!
Tip : I use your version for win2003 as I have winCE 4.2 .Net core on my PNA...

Hello,
the HKCU will be created the first time you start the splitted ports.
