I had oportunity to check memory capacity again. And it is strange because WBT can still record 12680 points with new firmware (so it gives >200kBytes data in total). So maybe 12680 is Wintec limitation for some reason, but why just value 12680 I have no idea. The rest I discovered in previous test is still valid - log rotates at 12680 and removes oldest 1/5 of point data. Pawel

yes, so I'm not why I remember seeing 16,000, must have been late ;-) One problem I'm having with the WBT-100 is that seems to try to initiate a Bluetooth connection when I turn it on, which tends to confuse WM5 based PDAs and Smartphones with the MS stack. Apparently they prefer to initiate the connection themselves.

When initially establishing partnership, I noticed this too. However, after pairing and a soft reset, I've never seen it happen again. I'm just wondering if other GPSr log devices with which they are currently paired. I thought not, until I've seen how this device operates.
Could this be some sort of security mechanism to prevent other BT devices discovering your tracks? |

| I am considering the WBT 200 to use with my Axim X30 using BT or to use with my Dell notebook using USB. The specs state "using GPS in real-time through USB connection". Can the GPS be used in real-time through the BT connection? Is the WBT 200 compatible with MS Streets & Trips? Thank you. |

The GPS can be used real-time through the Bluetooth. I'm using it with my Sprint Phone and I-Guidance. Can't tell you about the Microsoft product.
On another note, is anyone having a problem when you use it in the data logging mode where instead of giving you one large log file for your route, you wind up with a whole bunch of files that are pieces of the route...almost as if its starting and stopping. There is no pattern to the frequency of the starting/stopping so its not a functio of how the data logging is set (I had it set for every 5 seconds.) |

hi....i currently have a delorme bluelogger and was wondering if anyone had experience with both of these units. the Wintec WBT-100 is intruiging as it has the usb and the e-compas. i'll have to look at the software for the ppc, but does it allow you to change the logging capabilites of the unit? currently on my blue logger software, there's ways to set how it logs points such as:
if faster than 55mph: every 1 mile if slower than 3 mph: every .003 miles otherwise: every .025 miles
i could change the paramaters for speed and how often to log points.
if any one has experience with both sets of software, i'd appreciate it.
great info so far by the way. thanks. |

I am interested in the WBT-100 with my Cingular 8125 Pocket PC. However I do not see any examples of this device being used as a GPS on a pocket PC phone. How does it look or sound as you drive around town? I live in the Washinton DC area and need something like this for directions. I bought the Delorme for my laptop, but no longer have the laptop and I don't think you can convert the LT-10 or LT-20 for Pocket PC.

Anyone have a screen shot on how the WBT would look on a Pocket PC show the WBT navigating?

| I wonder if it comes with a program or do you have to purchase it somewhere else. You would think they would have more details about this product. I have been using Google to get the info but it is all the same. |

i don't think it comes with any navigation software if that's what you mean. the software it comes with looks only to be the data logging software and the compass feature. to look at the logged data, use google earth (free). that is a cool feature.
as far as pocket pc software, for onroad...i use mapopolis. you have to buy individual maps, but the software is free, i like it better than any other application.
for off road driving, hiking, camping etc....i have had good luck using topo usa maps ported to street atlas 2005 handheld that came with my blue logger.
i'll probably stick with my current software even if i try out the wbt.

I just received my little WBT-200 from Semsons'
- I was pleasantly surprised by a better than expected selectivity (I probably have the latest firmware release).
- The user's manual is an absolute disgrace, essentially unusable.
- The logged NMEA sentences are very incomplete: RMC: status always Void, speed, track and magnetic variation missing GGA: quality, #satellites, HDP and geoid alt missing
- Apparently not as linux-compatible as expected: Datalog download under linux gpsbabel-1.3.1 works perfectly, but any configuration task (firmware upgrade, logger options) still requires G-tools under windows (no colleague will let me install this suspicious looking gtools in their Microsoft box). If the gtools source was made available, I could build a linux-compatible version (unless it is already available somewhere?). |
