Folks,
I have just received my new Nuvi 360 (European Model), preloaded with City Navigator Europe NT+ v8. Just wanted to share my first impressions and opinions about this new toy. I have ordered it from UK, from store named EXPANSYS, and paid around 760USD for it. It came with same accessories as 350 model, but it has a matte LCD screen, what I am very happy for after reading complains about shiny screens in newest 350 models. As I reside in the US, I needed to load US City Navigator to my new nuvi. I have requested the City Navigator North America NT DVD before, so I only went to Garmin web site to generate a new (the second) unlock code and my American mapset was ready for uploading. I uploaded it to 2GB SD Card, and went out for my first ride. The very first satellite acquisition was more than satisfying. Bellow 40 seconds. Hot fix coming instantly. Regarding the navigation itself, I'd say, the unit is more accurate, not as my old 350 model showing intersection 20feets away, while being right in middle of it. The Menu layout and the functionality is exactly the same as in nuvi350 model with 3.30 FW. Only the Bluetooth connection is an addition here. The Bluetooth connection itself works fine with my Nokia 6680. It found my phone quite quickly, the pairing went without any problems. It does have a phone log feature (it logs incoming, outgoing, even missed calls from your cell phone) It also has a function to download the entire phone book from your phone over Bluetooth, unfortunately my phone does not support it so I could not test this feature. It has also a voice dialing, which works fine with my Nokia. I found the POI dialing very convenient. The speaker could be louder though, I had to put my nuvi to max volume to understand clearly what the other party says. I would say the overall sounding in nuvi 360 is less louder than my previous 350 model. So far I did not have any issues with this model, except one freeze when I was trying to pair my wife's Nokia with nuvi.
So far that's it, and I'll keep you updated with my ongoing experience and issues I hope I might not have ;-)
FYI- I am running on 2.30 nuvi 360 main SW 2.50 GPS SW 2.14 Bluetooth SW

Good day Sasovics,
I am a current iQUE3600 user in the New York area looking to replace my unit with a Nuvi 360 and I am most curious to know more about the screen on the Nuvi 360 and how visisble it is in the sunlight compared to the 350. I like my iQue however the screen is washed out in sunny conditions.
I have read that the 350 screen does not fare well in the sun, hence my queston to you as you seem to have both.
Thanks Claude H. |

Guys,
To be honest, I haven't seen the new nuvi 350 glare screen, but I still have my old nuvi 350 (bought in December 2005) at home, and when compared side by side you cannot tell the difference. The screens on both devices are mattte and I am not experiencing any mirrored image reflection under direct sunlight. Although I had Garmin Quest before, that unit had a glare screen with some kind of anti-reflection layer on it, and I would say my experience with Quest under direct sunlight was the best. It had no reflections (or mirrored images) at all from any angle, and compared my both nuvis to that screen I must say I can experience some kinda reflections on my nuvi's from certain angle, but definitelly no glare, disturbing mirroded images as mentioned by many members in this forum at all.
Edited: Regarding the brightness under sunny conditions - no complains so far. The screen is bright enough same as my old nuvi350 model Garmin Nuvi 350 in Acura TL 2005 |

| I'm now confused. I've had my Nuvi a few days. Are they shipping some units with an anti-glare (matte, like LCD TV) screen? Mine is very shinny and reflects light like a mirror. |

| The newer Nuvis have a highly reflective screen. The "older" ones are matte. It appears that the 360s are matte. |

| Maybe this has been discussed earlier here but is the "highly reflective" screen considered an improvement? |

Thanks gpspassion and sasovics,
I had seen that other post earlier but had talked with a Garmin rep. about the nuvi 360 and C550 screen (the latter is supposed to have a screen similar to the Garmin 2720 "automotive grade"). His claim was the nuvi 360’s screen was quite close to the c550, which I now question based on the above.
I currently use an iQUE 3600, which is a great tool for me; however, the screen is really not usable for me in bright light. Two reasons: it's got a great PDA screen, reflective and all.... and I am a low vision person who needs to occasionally refer to the screen when driving.
I love the nuvi's form factor as I want to carry the unit with me as apposed to leaving it in the car. I am also looking at the c550 when it comes out as I suspect the screen will be more resilient in sunlight but the thickness of the unit does not lend itself IMHO to carrying around in ones pocket or attached to ones belt. Of course there is the 2720 but that is even larger and is not self powered.
Of course I understand that the screen of the nuvi 360 must be a big improvement over the iQUE3600 in bright light conditions and possibly quite usable by me nonetheless.
Decisions, decisions.
Thanks,
Claude H.

Any chance the mp3 supports playlists????? I hope, I hope. Unit sounds great. I had the 350 and returned it but I still miss it. |

If you mean support of m3u playlist files, unfortunately not. FYI - nuvi 360 model has the same features as nuvi 350 at 3.30 SW except the Bluetooth is an addition... |

The mic is located at the bottom left corner of the unit (see screenshot) and if you are 2-3 feets away from from the nuvi, the sound is excellent.

For those who are interested in LCD screen reflection, here are some more pics token using camera flash, so you can see how reflection look on this unit:

Thanks, the unit is really a great piece of work, although I must mention some cons I have noticed recently:
I have noticed some disturbances when I am calling over Bluetooth. The person calling to nuvi can hear his voice back from time to time. It is not that noticeable (nuvi is trying to filter these out), but for somebody it could be disturbing. This is happening especially when the nuvi is mounted in car onto the front windshield. The second, as I have mentioned, the unit could be more louder (compared to my old nuvi350) But I think this is unit specific only... |
