Hi edardito,
I'm not quite sure what to tell you on this one as I'm not having any problems at all with Mobile XT (other than some known beta growing pains like minor assertion errors, etc.). Are you sure that you are using the latest version 3.81.10 of the beta? Also, did your GPS 10's firmware get successfully updated to version 2.30 by Mobile XT?
Other than that, I can tell you that I never had the older Que application installed on my PPC. I took a brand new X51v right out of the box and installed the Mobile XT beta on it straight away. i.e. is it possible that something in your old Que app (left behind on your SD card, etc.) is causing the problem?
Lastly, note that I'm running Mobile XT from my PPC's internal memory. I've never tried running it from the SD card (although my base map and detailed maps are indeed installed on the SD card).
If none of that helps you out any, then I'd try contacting Garmin at the beta e-mail address they have listed on the Mobile XT beta download page and see what they have to say about it. |

Didn't really try a lot of the stuff. As previously mentioned, I had trouble in the waypoints section. I already have the US loaded so I didn't check that part out. I did notice your #3 and #4.
After thinking about it, I do like the "eye candy" and the finger buttons of the XT software but really like the features in the old software better. One thing I really like is the ability to set and route to off road waypoints in the old software.
I didn't use the software very much, so there may be ways of making it work to my preferences. I just don't have patience to use software that isn't stable.

A few thoughts after installing on my Mio A701 :
- Don't try to install large maps with ActiveSync running, it caused the transfer to be aborted a few times.
- I sometimes get no map display and a "no map" text. Calculating a route helps with that
- Can't find the total mileage of a trip, only ETA, on the nüvi it appears top right of the trip computer
- No going to 2D mode if you tap on screen like on the nüvi, looks more like the C550 in that respect
- Can't get POILoader to recognize the PDA, maybe a newer version than mine is needed
- Haven't tried the online features, it seems you need to register somewhere first, maybe on Mygarmin.com
- That's all for now...

Hi Office thanks a lot for your response, please find my answers.
Are you sure that you are using the latest version 3.81.10 of the beta? Yes
100% sure I download yesterday Also, did your GPS 10's firmware get successfully updated to version 2.30 by Mobile XT?
I do not know since I have not received any update message when I try to use the software even when I try to start the XT with the GPS already paire
Other than that, I can tell you that I never had the older Que application installed on my PPC. I took a brand new X51v right out of the box and installed the Mobile XT beta on it straight away. i.e. is it possible that something in your old Que app (left behind on your SD card, etc.) is causing the problem?
I did a hard reset nothing in memory
Lastly, note that I'm running Mobile XT from my PPC's internal memory. I've never tried running it from the SD card (although my base map and detailed maps are indeed installed on the SD card).
I have installed in the internal memory.
If none of that helps you out any, then I'd try contacting Garmin at the beta e-mail address they have listed on the Mobile XT beta download page and see what they have to say about it.
OK Regards

Hmm... Perhaps this is the problem then. Mobile XT is probably failing to start for you when you first launch it because the application is attempting to start the GPS 10 firmware update process and that's not working (for whatever reason).
After installing Mobile XT, the very first time I launched the application, it went into a special update mode where it updated the firmware on my GPS 10 receiver to version 2.30. Mobile XT won't run on a GPS 10 receiver that doesn't have the new 2.30 firmware installed on it.
Thus, the only thing I can suggest is for you to contact the Garmin beta folks and ask them why the update won't take place on your unit and/or why Mobile XT won't start. |

Here's what I did...
1) Turned on the GPS 10 and paired it with my PPC.
2) Turned off the BT radio on my PPC (but left the GPS 10 turned on).
Note that I don't think that step #2 is necessary, but that's how I did it.
3) Launched Mobile XT app for first time and it automatically turned on the BT radio on my PPC and began scanning the BT ports looking for the GPS 10. As soon as it found the GPS 10, the update firmware process kicked in and began updating the firmware (which took quite a long time to complete).
After that, the Mobile XT program was ready to use. Now, each time I start Mobile XT (generally with the BT radio switched off on my PPC) it automatically enables the BT radio, starts scanning the BT devices, connects to the GPS 10, and then acquires the satellites. When I'm done using Mobile XT it automatically switched the BT radio back off when I exit the program. |

Hi All,
Here are some screen shots showing you the FREE "live traffic" service in Mobile XT:

It turns out that you do indeed need to have City Navigator NT maps in order to use the traffic features in Mobile XT (I'm using City Navigator North America v8). Apparently, there's information stored within the compressed NT maps that is required for the traffic feature to function. This is apparent when you build your maps in MapSource as it displays a status dialog during the build process that reads "Building traffic files...".
And yes, that is indeed a McDonalds advertisement that you're seeing.
Way to go Garmin!
EDIT: Removed last three photos (to help ease bandwidth problems) |

Okay, here's a few changes I noticed in the new beta:
1) Fonts have changed a bit (at least on my VGA screen). They seem to be a bit smaller now.
2) Trip Computer display has been fixed on VGA screens.
3) GPS Info display has been fixed on VGA screens.
4) New "Hotel Prices" feature in Garmin Online that gives current prices for the hotels in your current location. This is a premium (i.e. pay) service just as the "Fuel Prices" feature is.
5) The McDonalds advertisement graphic in the free traffic feature has grown in size considerably. I guess that McDonalds really wants you to see/use it.
6) Map Sets screen now shows location of the map sets (i.e. SD Card)
7) New messaging feature - On the title bar of the main "Where To?" screen, an envelope icon appeared. When I clicked on it, I received a message from Garmin that read "Thank you for testing Garmin Online. A new Hotel Prices feature has been added for comparing room rates and amenities - try it!". Thus, it appears that Garmin will now be able to send small text messages to their users via the Garmin Online service.
8) New "Garmin Online Prices" item added to the "Lodging" and "Fuel" sections under the "Food, Hotels..." item of the main "Where To?" menu.
I'll let you know more changes as I come across them.

So I am looking for chatter on the GPS 10x (as to when it will be available) and the XT Beta, and who do I find? TheOfficeMaven! On top of things as usual.
Nice to run into you again. Seems that you are doing all the research for us (at least for me).
Thanks for all the good info. |

Hi skata,
Good to see you over here on the GpsPAsSion forums. You'll find lots of great info here for sure.
As for the GPS 10x... I haven't heard anything solid about it's pending release date yet. I'm sure that Garmin is waiting for Mobile XT to be thoroughly tested before they release it. Since the receiver already has FCC approval, I'd look for it to be released right around the same time as Mobile 20 (i.e. the GPS 20SM). Probably between now and October.
Take care and welcome to the forums!

Can you use Mobile XT on a Dell Axim x51v with a Globalsat CF gps receiver such as the BC-337?
or does Mobile XT ONLY work with a Garmin gps receiver?
what appears to be better, iGuidance v3.0 or Mobile XT? |
