The only hack I have done is to allow voice command to work with a bluetooth headset. I have my5msgcenter and wifiinit in the startup folder. Do you also have voice command active?

App unlock = yes
cache hack = yes (although I never noticed a speed increase)
voice command over BT = yes
My5 = No (get rid of this, it really causes problems)

As for startup I only use autokeylock, so only it and wifi stuff is in there.

Searching with garminXT was never that fast, especially if it is looking over 50 miles out. But within that I found it adequate.

I experimented with over-clocking under wm5. It didn't increase my performance enough to warrant the hassles

By the way, what was the cache hack that you accomplised for the Dash? I just tried the 16384 to 32768 hack, but it didn't fix the search problem.

Thanks,

GP

Hi,

When I do a search for an address or contact, after entering the letters (doesn't occur with numbers), it can take up to 10 seconds for each letter to display after typing in the address or contact name. I will download the .10 update to see if it helps.

In the process of updating to 4.10.10. Looks like they fixed according to the update: Update the text entry search process for Windows Mobile 6 smartphones. I'm sure it will work perfectly again. Thanks for the help.

UPDATE: The new update worked! Garmin Mobile XT 4.10.10 works great with my Dash and WM6.

Does Garmin Mobile XT allow you to use another bluetooth GPS receiver besides the Garmin brand? If not, any tricks or hacks to get it to use another receiver?

NO, must use Garmin gps. I have a holux gpslim and it won't work. Garmin uses the gps to unlock the maps.

Hope this helps,

GP

The Garmin Mobile XT application looks for a genuine Garmin gps (GPS 10X and I think the 10) to allow access to the maps. The application doesn't recognize non Garmin GPS's.

Hope this helps,

I'm running GMXT v4.10.10w on a Dell Axim X51v, and have not been able to transfer routes or waypoints from Mapsource to GMXT. Mapsource shows a very quick progress dialog, and then gives a Transfer Complete message. GMXT then auto starts on the X51v, and when I go into "Tools\Manage My Data\Routes" there is no route information there.

Has anyone been able to do this on a PPC as yet? Garmin's tech support is very spotty on this saying it should work, but calling when I'm not at my home PC I'm not able to try their suggestions until I get home. I had the current version of Marsource 6.12.4, and one Garmin support tech said try rolling back Mapsource to the 6.11.x version. I did this and still no joy. :(

Any info greatly appreciated.

I'm replying to my own post here because I finally talked to a Garmin support rep that actually knew what he was talking about!

Routes and waypoints will transfer! Garmin Mobile XT on the PDA needs to be up and running in the main "Where to?" / "View map" screen (at least on the Pocket PC version) before you attempt to transfer routes and/or waypoints, but this is not necessary for map only transfers. Waypoints are actually stored as items in your "My Locations" folder. However these are not removed if you delete the route, they'll need to be deleted manually if you delete the route and want them gone as well.

And I have the current versions of Mobile XT and Mapsource installed. Thank you Garmin - finally!

I think I'll be deleting TomTom Navigator 6 from my PDA now, as there's no longer a need for it - and TT6 won't do route and/or waypoint transfers from the desktop.

Does anyone know of a way to make MobileXT go full screen on a WM5 Smartphone? I installed it on my Blackjack and and a WM6 upgraded HTC Wizard and it works really well on both. Coming from Mapopolis and IGuidance, I think it's a big improvement.

The only thing that is missing for me is the ability for MobileXT to show in full screen mode on the Blackjack since it does on the Wizard. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

<EDIT>
And by full screen I mean without the signal and battery status bar across the top of the Blackjack. On the Wizard, it show the status bar until you get into Map mode, then it switches to full screen
</EDIT>

Thanks

Greetings!
After reading all 19 pages of this forum, I have not found what I am looking for, but this is obviously a great group and the right people to ask this question:
How do we use the Garmin Mobile 10 with other software such as Google Maps or Live Search? These are great on the Pocket PC, but would be so much better if they could determine current location.
Yes, I have contacted Garmin NON-Supoort multiple times. They only say that it is not their software so I have to contact someone else.
The HDC XV6700 (Verizon) did not have Settings/GPS visible, so I hacked the Registry. Now I can set the Intermediate Driver to the Bluetooth COM port. But, still neither program is able to find the GPS.
Does anyone know the correct protocol, port, etc. settings to make this work?
Thank you.

I've been using Garmin Mobile XT for about a month now on my Sprint Mogul and I'm floored! Not since the release of the XV6700 have I been so excited about a device! I'm very new to the GPS arena so I am going to assume that no other GPS device in this price range has the capability of routing you by the current traffic conditions.

I work on the other side of town from where I live and since I've been using Mobile XT, it's taken me home about 10 different ways because of its capabilities to recognize current traffic conditions and reroute you.

Not to mention the ability to find the cheapest gas station in the area I'm in.

I really feel like I have an upper hand on my fellow commuters with this device!

One thing I do wish it had though. The ability to access reviews of restaurants. I was at an unfamiliar restaurant the other day and it would have been nice to pull up reviews directly through the Garmin software on that restaurant. Yeah I know I could have just gone out to the internet to find a review but it would be nice to have that functionality in the same application that found the place for me.

The more I get into this application the more I'm amazed!

Eric
