I haven't overclocked my personal dash, but I have done it on others. I found it a total waste. The processor does not seem to be the limiting issue.
Overclocking a dash only makes sense if you want to play with skype.
The only time I wish for a faster system is when searching the POI database. Sometimes it can take a while. |

I overclock my HTC P3300 and it helps with multi-tasking while using mapping programs and video rendering. You can run benchmarks to prove it. I used an overclocked S620 with TCPMP for a presentation recently, showing Desperate Housewives and Heroes from 9:30 until 11:30 on battery power and it made a noticeable difference, no chops, no freezing at high resolution. Battery life diminished slightly but still excellent. I have found no reason *not* to overclock any omap device with a 200 mhz processor. I overclock everything but my tytn.

Well of course it helped when you were on battery power, it forces the processor to run at full power, instead of a reduced clock speed to converse battery life.
When plugged in though, I have not seen a huge improvement by overclocking.
I rarely run GXT on battery. I am usually on my bike, or in a car, so I can plug in. |

Unless TMO pulls some tricks on the Dash rom's that HTC doesn't (which is possible) the clock speed is the same regardless of if you are plugged in or not. You can test using TCPMP.

I have had a few other things to work on but just a quick note that XT does seem to run fairly quickly on WM06. No real problems as of yet. I did install and then copy the contents of the garmin directory in root over the top from my last xt install.

A little update to my issues. I finally got fed and a performed a hard reset. After 3 hours of work (forgot how many reg changes I made) I loaded gxt. I didn't load any maps until I loaded the update.
I can report that this app is working much better. I do not have the homescreen issue anymore. As much as a hard reset sucks. It was worth it to gain app stability. |

They chose to hide it under gps 10 not mobile 10 or mobile 20, evidently it is adds better support for the gps 10...
http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00378-00
This software is intended for use with the Garmin GPS 10. This software should only be downloaded to the unit for which it is intended. If this software is downloaded to a GPS unit other than the product it is designed for, it may render the unit inoperative. If the software download fails, and subsequent download attempts prove unsuccessful, the unit may need to be returned for service. Please send feedback (questions and error reports) regarding this beta software to GMobilebeta@garmin.com. Please DO NOT call the Garmin Customer Support number for reports concerning this beta release as they will not be able to provide support for this software. Reverting to previous software revisions will clear all user data. If map installation is necessary, use the product CD provided with your Garmin GPS 10. There are some important differences in Garmin Mobile XT vs. Garmin Que with GPS 10 that you should note: Garmin Mobile XT does not provide configurable data fields with the map display. Garmin Mobile XT does not provide mapping of device buttons to specific Garmin Mobile XT application functions. Garmin Mobile XT does not provide 'Sun and Moon' and 'Hunt and Fish' utilities. There may be other functions that Garmin Mobile XT does not provide that are not listed here. The use of Garmin Online features requires an internet connection. The use of the Garmin Online -> Traffic feature requires City Navigator Version 8 NT maps or newer. A minimum SD card size of 256 MB is recommended for Garmin Mobile XT software with maps. If you have previously installed the Garmin Que for PPC application, you must uninstall Garmin Que before installing the Garmin Mobile XT beta application.

I just got a Garmin Mobile 10 and I seem to recall reading you could do the install directly from a SD card if it was big enough.
Does anyone know what files off the Garmin CD I copy to the CD card to install directly from within my Blackjack phone? |

sorry, I should be more clear...I had CD on computer and installed XT to a CD card...when I plugged the CD card in the phone it installed fine on the phone...
I am wanting to upgrade to the latest version and also put maps on the CD card since it is a 2GB card and should hold them fine |

@subq You use mapsource (garmin download) to install the maps to the card and just download the update from the garmin website and install. I think that answers your question? -mix |

Latest updated software enabled backlighting feature on T-Mobile Dash! I also noticed that when I select the number 9 for a traffic advisory, it doesn't lock up or slow down the Dash. I was able to view thew traffic information and was able to go back to the map screen with no issues. I commend Garmin for releasing so many updates in such a short period of time! I hope they continue optimizing the software to run smoother on devices like the T-Mobile Dash.
