Thanks for that report - it is the only one I've seen so far of a failed battery outside of warranty.

Did your battery show any signs of upcoming failure before the warranty expired?

I'd be careful about buying batteries too cheap on ebay... I've had some real junk cell phone replacement batteries from there. Would be a shame to put one of those in the Nuvi. Would be nice to at least find out a reputable brand.

@danham , "Did your battery show any signs of upcoming failure" I'm kind of a lazy guy and leave the 360 in the
car, hooked up in the sig.plug which is charging continuously.
The only times I took out of its cradle when going to my wife's
or girlfriends car! Then Suddenly last time I used it on battery IT went blank in abt 20 mins, WTF
We Nuvi owners need a battery SENSOR that cuts_OFF the charging cycle when fully charged and restarts when completely empty lol

Lithium batteries like "exercise," so the constant charging, while it did NOT overcharge your nuvi (the battery sensor you comment about already exists in slightly different form), did perhaps contribute to its somewhat early failure.

For lots of tips on this type of battery (geared to the iPod and iPhone but applicable to nuvi), have a look at my web site:

The unit will be obsolete in 3 years. I have a 2610, looking to upgrade.

Really? Let's see, got the 2610 in 2004, got nüvi 760 today. 760 has faster startup, more sensitive (I.E., holds the signal), better display, bluetooth, traffic report, you can say 2610 is obsolete, but still useable.

That long? More like 18-24 months, which is about the length of time a unit stays in the Garmin lineup these days...at 3 years he's being very generous...

Yeap!
T5 screw driver.
plastic flat head.
(after remove two screws under the sticker)
Basically, just use plastic edge tool to go around the housing.

The link works better with less 'e's. :)

I looked up the 200, but didn't see anything about tools.?.

IMHO, $29 is a bit high for just the cell. The same battery is $18.50 on Ebay. (including S&H).
I'll bet that the cost will be 1/2 that in a couple of years.

Cheers,
Rich
