I am making a new program. It will use to generate a TYP file. It will convert the BMP into file TYP. It goes will support for the first version of program approximately 70% of functionality (line, point, polygon) DAY and night color for line and polygon, transparent color, line and border, use orientation, etc.

this program is available in 2-3 week.

Cypherman:
The only issue to note is when Mapsetting an original Garmin file here's what I observed:
24K and US Topo - the background is lost in Mapsource. (24K has the unique shading effect which is lost (probably doesn't affect maps in the unit itself), and US Topo has a symbol for wetlands which is lost)
US Topo - the lower letters case reverts to Capital letters
Cannot mix mapsets (24K w/ 100K - at least with original Garmin topos).
The remaining detail seems to be intact; however, must zoom in on custom mapsets to a greater detail in Mapsource.
These are issues probably related to GPSmapper and not Map Set Toolkit.
Those were to cons, the pros is this is a great aid in creating custom maps into mapsource with one simple click of the button. If you want to change the mapset, one simple click will remove the registry entry, choose the new mapset, and click again! Create a dozen mapsets quickly, add registry entries just as quickly! This makes editing the registry much safer!
I haven't tried the TYP tool since this is not something I can not use currently.

I think that new the version of US TOPO (v3) uses TYP file. It would have to be looked in the registry of the orignal install, if you do not have a key TYP. Or with CGPSMAPPER you lost the polygons which is useful has to make the shading effects.

Using MapsetToolkit V1.03, I was able to adjust the zoom level to match the original mapsets in Mapsource with IMG Level setting of 20:19. Polygons are retained such as wetlands, etc., but the original 24K background shaded polygon still does not appear. This is a type 0x4b polygon. All other information seems to be retained. I am using the basic version of GPSmapper, so that may make a difference. However, this shading is cosmetic, and does not appear in the gpsr, so it makes little differnce.
This tool is extremely usefull for sorting out mapsets of many different areas, and it saves a great deal of time in not having to edit the pv_test file, or having to open the registy.

The new gentype program requires a level of sophistication most users don't have. It would be helpfull if you could include a few sample files to guide the novice.
