Updated 20080923 : TomTom have just made a new v2.4 version available, the main change is the availability via TomTom HOME of the TomTom Map Update Service.
Updated 20080102 : TomTom have just relased a fairly major upgrade of TomTom HOME, the PC and Mac companion software for the GO and ONE AIOs. You can now see the number of Mapshare corrections applied to your maps, but with no actual details and share vehicle cursors and startup screens.
Direct download links: - PC Version : link - Mac version link (thanks to Infama for the link)

With the arrival of v6 on the GO510/710/910, TomTom launched a new concept : TomTom HOME ! This PC application lets you : Backup your GO or SD card to your HD Install maps, voices, pois, etc... Set up traffic alerts - TomTom Traffic subscription not required - but not available in NA so far Plan your trips from your PC by connecting to your device
Current Version : 2.0 beta - see below (08/2007) 1.3 build 030 (08/04/2006) 1.2 build 016 (05/17/2006)
Download : from the TomTom Site
Known problems : - XP may crash, if it does let Windows report the error directly as these go to TomTom
Tipds :- Define your current Position : Click in the bottom of the screen
- Voix : TTS voices don't work, use the standard recorded voices
- Configuration : TTH will reset your GO's configuration, especially POI alerts, so make sure you back up the .cfg file if you spent time on that
- Crash of the planning mode : People in Europe have found that removing the .mds files with a zero (0 byte) size helps, MAKE A COPY on your PC first though
Questions, comments, problems, tips, feel free to share !

| I believe the American side of this might be up now, also. Tomtom was apparently revamping their entire site this weekend and has it back online today. I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing on available content to download, along with future services they will be putting online. |

The interface has been vastly improved and it now looks like an actual TomTom unit.
Looks the the beta test period is over, and the download is no longer available. |

| For those that have been able to test or try out the HOME v2.0 beta, will it now allow the planning of routes and/or waypoints and transfer them over the TT Navigator on the PDA? |

| I wanted to make members here aware that several posters over the past two days at a another European forum have complained of losing mapshare after updating to TomTom2.4. It was noted that TomTom is aware of some "minor difficulties" with the latest update, but no advice was given at this time. Also some complaints from owners unable to complete the map transaction. Other purchases such as traffic were reported to be going thru as they should. |

Yes there were issues buying the map subscription last night apparently, it's pretty common for some adjustments to be needed after a TomTom HOME update, especially with Mapshare.
As a side note it's interesting how much interest/faith people put in Mapshare, since there is no way of seeing what is being updated and maybe one or two known cases of useful corrections being done. The fact that TomTom is offering this discounted map update program also goes to show that Mapsahre isn't all that it's cracked up to be, but that's a discussion for the "Mapshare" topic ;-) |

| The mapshare update problem with TTh v2.4 was discussed during our meeting in Amsterdam yesterday and as a result they came up with this statement : "We are finalizing maintenance on our map share system to make it more robust; we expect to start Map Share distribution again on the 7th of October. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding." |
