Hi - can anyone help me with registration to poigps.com? I'm trying to get the speed camera database for Italy. I've registered (I think correctly!) with the site, but I was expecting a verification email to reply to and as yet (24 hours+) I haven't received one.

*** Tried again and it's worked this time ***

There is an alternate source in Sweden with translation to
english: http://www.posit.se/index-en.html
If you want to red it translated to frensh, spanish, german or italian - click on the flag on http://www.posit.se
Very handy

Radarfalle.de. You will be asked to pay a fee for this site. However, another version Germany only version is freely available in the Google Earth format here. To convert this format for use with a GPS system (TomTom, POI-Warner, Destinator, Garmin, etc...) you can use PoiEdit. No information is provided on update frequency or position checking. Seems to provide some speedcam positions in Spain and Portugal.

I downloaded the file *.kml for Germany and tried to convert it in PoiEdit.
Well, if the original file displays the speed limits in Google Earth without problems, it seems that converting the file I loose some information (basically I am interested in the speed limit more than any other details).
I also tried to save the file as *.gpx but it seems that Mapsource cannot open it.

Any idea what am I doing wrong here? Is there a way to get the speed limit for each point, starting from the kml file?

Thanks,

Laurentiu

It seems that this data base, don't give speed limitation values.

Well, how come I can see the speed limit in Google Earth?
Each point has a sign (like the speed limit sign). This means the speed limit must be somewhere there, right?

I agree.
But it seems not possible to have directly a speed value when the .kml file is open with PoiEdit. Two distinct data base maybe ?

I just noticed that http://www.pois.se/ now has speed cameras as well. The source for the information is Vägverket (the Swedish Road Administration). Still just in Swedish though... :-(
