A question about GARMIN New GPS MAP 60Cx, CSx, 76Cx, 76CSx, eTrex Legend Cx, eTrek V Knowing the maximum no of trackpoints will still be 10000 which is disappointing. It would be even more disappointing if tracks can not be saved "on the fly" to the SD card without losing precision (maximum 500 points in saved tracks). The Garmin webisite does not mention anything about it. Anyone there having some insider knowledge about this?
Second point: On the 60csx for instance, does the INTERNAL memory still exist ? A valid question, as while the web pages dealing with the new expandable memory, there is no mention of any internal memory...?

I see the picture of NavTeq. I wonder if they have there with them a printed list of the countries they currently cover. I've always wondered why such list is not available on their website.

Yes, very nice, no GSM chip on this one though.
Asked Garmin yesterday about the trackpoint limitation on the G60 and it seems you can't record a live track to the microSD card, it will only be used for storage, the guy said he would follow up with the engineers though.

I'm looking at the "G.P.S. Included" sign above the sporting goods store... That's a bit misleading ;-)
By the way, GpsPasSion Club membership includes G.P.S.*, too, doesn't it?

Thanks for your coverage at CES!
I'm really interested in and like the look of the new Globalsat BT-338 v2 that was announced.
1.) When is this successor actually going to be available?
2.) What are the differences besides size?
3.) Have they mentioned a price?
4.) Will they offer it in black as well (or just in white, like in the photo)?
5.) Paul, Guillaume: What were your impressions about it?
Thanks for any feedback you can offer on these five questions.

Good points Marvin ;-)
@OrionFire - Thanks, I would recommend you start a new thread about the new GS BT GPS though if not it will get buried in here.

That's a good idea. I created a new thread titled "Globalsat BT-338 v2 (Successor to BT-338)" in the "GPS and Mobile News" forum, for those who have questions or comments on it as info becomes available.

Ok should get to it tomorrow ;-)
While the full report is shaping up, here are some "snapshots", starting with Holux and Guidetek who are still launching new PDA/PC GPS designs while a lot of the attention is focused on AIO's. All the units below are SiRFstarIII based.

From left to righ, the classic GPSlim238, the standalone GM-120 and the AIO/PMP DMP-1
The GPSlim237 shaped as a pen with a 600mAH battery rated at 8 hours of battery life with the now standard dual Bluetooth/USB Holux interface
The GPSlim239 shaped as a golf ball that plugs in directly to a car plug, so no internal battery, but the dual Bluetooth/USB interface is here again.

New Globalsat GPS Devices at CES : BT-358, GV-201, GH-601, TR-101
Stanley, US Director & C.T.O, Prince, Founder/President & CEO and Guillaume - gpspassion
Alex, Managing Director for USG, showing the latest models to Paul
New family of Bluetooth GPS receivers with different designs for OEM customres to pick from. Apparently Globalsat have chosen the diminutive "mirror" model (logically the BT-358) for its own use, shown next to the famous BT-338
New AIO (All in One), the GV-201 with a 4" screen, quite similar to the GV-101 really. Also shown are future 5" AIO designs that look sleeker to me
A GPS watch, the GH-601 that comes in several colors but does look like the Garmin Forerunner, SiRFIII on board though. On the right, the TR-101 family of GSM (SMS+GPRS) and SiRFIII trackers
Among the GPS manufacturers out of Taïwan at the CES 2006 show, Globalsat certainly had the most impressive display of new GPS devices, new bluetooth GPS receivers, the diminutive BT-358, but also a new AIO (All in One) the GV-201, a GPS watch, the GH-601, and a GSM tracker, the TR-101.
New family of Bluetooth GPS receivers with different designs for OEM customres to pick from. Apparently Globalasat has chosen the diminutive "mirror" model (going by previous numbers it should be the BT-358) for its own use, shown next to the famous BT-338. It uses the new single chip SiRFIII design so battery life is anticipated to remain at 17 hours in spite of the smaller battery, we'll have to check that out !
New AIO (All in One), the GV-201 with a 4" screen, quite similar to the GV-101 really. This time software should be different in the US and Europe, with Intellinav for the US and Smart2go for Europe. A TMC (trafic info) version if planned for the GV-201 too. Also shown are future 5" AIO designs that look sleeker to me
A GPS watch, the GH-601 that comes in several colors but does look a lot like the Garmin Forerunner, SiRFIII on board though. The expected price point is amazing at $89, can't wait to try it on the ski runs ! On the right, the TR-101 family of GSM (SMS+GPRS) and SiRFIII trackers, ready to be launched by a carrier in Taiwan. Let's hope these units make it to end users too so that they can be used with Google Earth via programs like FindU/FindMe.
Questions, comments ?

I didn't see anything about it, but that doesn't mean anything. The show was so big and spread out that it was almost impossible just to concentrate on a topic as narrow as GPS. There were over 150,000 attendees! Imagine going from booth to booth in those crowds.
