No he said he had been mistaken further down the thread.
MAJOR UPDATE : rummaged through the messages here and the upload directory and did a major update of the first message. if you can check whether your files have made it. A few comments, james1549, your fixed Target file was used to replace the previous one, used your updated Nascar one too, redcloud, not sure you had a chance to had that speedcam that was submitted, didn't see a new file, mors, great job, keep'em coming ;-) Not sure what happened to the Harlery dealers, but we now have a dealership category. Anyway sorry for the dealy and going forward I'll shoot for updates every two weeks (so next one is 03/31) and we can take it from there, with a full new section if need be.

I found that Costco and Wal-Mart locations are not very accurate. Can anyone update them so that locations are more accurate?
Thanks,

Will add Fry's tomorrow, thanks.
As for the Costco and Wal-Mart, not sure what you're asking, but as indicated on the first page, the best (and only ?) way to do it is list the erroneous positions you've found with the correct ones in this thread, so the person who added it can fix them.

Neither City Navigator or City Select has POIs for Speedcams if that is what you are asking. That is why this thread exists.
Look at page 1 of this thread for a list of what has been provided through the hard work of users who have created them.
If the region you wanted is not available, then there's your opening
Either CS or CN would be adequate for creating POI databases of Speed / Redlight cams using Mapsource. |

For those interested, here is a screenshot showing how to use the proximity dialog when setting up speedcams and redlights - in order to prevent false alerts on neighbouring roads. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/hcornea/ms-screenshot.jpg The resultant file can be saved as a GPX for use with POIloader |

Yes .. but the difference is that you can set, say, a 400m warning for a 100 kmh speed zone or, for school zones which are 40kmh, a 100, 200 or whatever size you like.
(POIloader defaults to 10x the warning speed ie 40kmh is always 400metres, 100 kmh is 1000m)
This is really handy for reducing false alerts on adjacent roads, and means that you can have full control over speed limit and proximity radius for each POI individually.
The screenshot just happens to have all the radii the same - which is a coincidence. The 400m warning on these 100kmh zones is much tighter, and makes more sense when driving.
(Sorry about the post here ... probably better on the POIloader thread as you suggest)

| Does the Nuvi series support Custom POI's this way? If not, is there a similar method that we could use? |

Cool, any chance you can update your Edit in the first post to reflect this?I read your note and since it did not mention the Nuvi, I did not follow any POILoader links.
Note by GpsPasSion : While TomTom has had this feature since their navigation solution were launched in 2002, Garmin recently made their POI Loader (Compatible with C3x0/i3/2720/Quest 2) available and there has been interest more interest in sharing custom POIs via the forums.
Also, does the Nuvi include In-N-Out burger joints? If not, I will start trolling their site to set one up!!! Is there a limit to how many Custom POI catagories you can add? Even if some fast food places are in the Food POI, I might like to have customized ones for times when I just am jonesing for a particular restaurant.
Thanks again to everyone for making this site THE GPS info repository on the web!!!! |
