Help with the basics please. I've read most of this thread and cant find the basics on where to find the files to modify. I have downloaded and run reshack. I only want this stuff to work on my PDA. I'm really only interested in changing/adding more streets and names at higher zoom levels. In reshack I opened the Iguidance.exe file found on my C drive on my PC. I find: cursor bitmaop icon menu dialog string table accelerators cursor group icon group version info 241 I cant find the INI files eveyone is modifying. Where are these? On my PC under C/program files/iNav/iGudiance, I have a lot of folders. cities, snd, cdinfo.ini, iguidance.chm, iguidance.exe, mapdata1.sz,mapdata2,sz,maploader.exe, mh.ini, polygons.sz, rgndata1.in, grndata2.in,rgndatap.in, and sizeinfo.sz Is it one of these files I modify? If so, how does this get to my PDA? Do I have to remove Iguidance from my pda and then reinstall to make the changes take efect? Please someone post the basics on how to find these files and bring them up.

I also have a registry editor on my PDA, by resco. Am I supposed to edit files on my PDA? If so, where is the ini file(s)? THanks all.

gutierrez75, you could for example record your own voice, give the voice file the same name as the included iGuidance voice files. Then just place your own creation to the same folder where the iGuidance voice files are located (overwriting the existing files).
serpa4, the THEME.INI file you will not locate on your PC or PDA. You have to either create it yourself or download it from http://inavcorp.com/support/downloads.php

These mods are great. New life for my IGuidance. However, still two problems. Please help if you can. I cannot show all the roads at 1 mile. They disapear at 4500 ft. I can't zoom out more than 5 miles. I'd like to see all the roads further zoomed out and I'd like to zoom way out, like 50 miles or more. Is there a way to boot iGuidance 3.0 into fullscreen mode? (for both PPC & PC)
Also, the info here is great been messing around w/ some custom mods since I got my GPS & SW a few days back. Is there a place where users post their favorite PPC or PC theme.ini files? I liked using dummper's theme on the PC, but doesn't quite fit my needs on the smaller PPC screen. Anyone recommend a PPC setup?

serpa4, You've already set your MDFC to 5 5 5 5.... so I think that's the best that we know how to do...
dcs, yes, one way would be to exit iGuidance in full screen mode (Alt-F4). Next time iGuidance will start in full screen mode. That works for a PC. For a PPC however you could set a hardware button to switch to full screen mode (not exactly what you are asking, I know :-)
I'm not sure about posting the actual .ini files here. I do recall a few years back when iNav first released its .ini files, they were against posting them on websites. I'm not sure if they would object to people sharing their own creations. I personally don't feel this would be something most software developers would object to, since this is just a configuration file. But since we don't know perhaps I could send a quick e-mail asking their current view on this. |

Thanks, I did setup a hardware button on the PPC to go fullscreen, but the problem is any time I tap the touchscreen to go in th menu, etc. it reverts back to the windowed view and when I am done with the menus and the map is back up it does not automatically revert to fullscreen again. Obviously I can press the fullscreen button once more but was hoping it was an .ini preference to just always default to fullscreen.

Maybe it is me...
The 3D mode on PC looks OK, but on PPC, it looks too "cartoonish", and the road border disappears.
Thanks to Marvin and this great thread, I was able to customize my map and the 2D looks pretty good, almost like Yahoo or Google's:
1. I enlarge the road width.
2. I use Red color for major highways Orange color for major local roads Yellow color for local roads White(steelblue for night) color for the smallest roads
3. I use Tan color for road border -- that make roads look much better, just like Yahoo or Google
However, 3D mode just looks so unrealistic to me. Anyone with me on this one?
When I first got iGuidance V3, I kept comparing it with my old PocketMap Navigator. Now after map customization, iGuidance looks much better in 2D mode than the stock setting, and I start to like it. Just wish we can do some more on 3D mode. |

Yeah even in the iNav download area they say the theme.ini cannot change some settings in 3D  |
