Here in my basement on my home PC, which is not connected to any GPS unit, I see just the grey arrow. (Or call it white or silver, etc ;-) In the past I would just see the red arrow now.
While on the road I think occasionally I do see the grey arrow, too. I didn't pay too close attention to pinpoint when exactly it is that I see it, but I think I see it at times immediately after I enter destination. Or is it red that I see? Not sure now. But it appears that the program may turn off GPS while entering destination (or while calculating a route?). I wonder if this is working this way by design (too speed something up perhaps).
Also I noticed that occasionally at night when I enter destination and hit "Navigate", it switches to Day color scheme for about 30 seconds till the GPS tells it what time it is (and then it switches back to night color scheme). Not too big of an issue, just a little cosmetic glitch .

Marvin,
Do you know hot to use this ommand from theme.ini? MSR - map scale ratio
I think we mightr be able to use this to bring the scale of IG3 UMPC bacl to the smaller/tighter scale of the regular iGuidance. |

| I suspect MSR has a different function. However, I do admit I have no clue what it does. I do recall playing with it in previous versions, but I never managed to figure out what it does. |

| It would be really great if this topic could be divided into 2 separate topics, Laptops and PDAs. Also each one subdivided again into Ver. 3.0 and 2.x. |

Good suggestion. I think I would lean toward removing from the index on page 1 the two or three links to items that are no longer needed in version 3. This way we would know everything in the index is relevant to the most recent iGuidance version.
Most items are relevant to both PC and PPC versions (by PC I also mean the new UMPC/CarPC version). How about marking each item with [PC] or [PPC] to make it easier?
[PPC] [PC] GPS arrows: page 1 here
[PPC] [PC] POI icons: page 1 here
[PC] Embed iGuidance in other applications: page 14 here
[PPC] [PC] Create your 1st theme.ini file: page 5 here |

Done . Index on page 1 has been edited. I moved a couple of items to the bottom on the list and marked them as no longer needed for the current version of iGuidance. |

Navigate by coordinates

lostreception over at MP3car.com figured out how to bring back this feature which was removed from the laptop/PC and UMPC/carPC versions of iGuidance 3.0.
He did the UMPC/CarPC version of iGuidance 3.0, and MatrixPC quickly adapted the modifications also to the laptop/PC version. Thanks guys!

QWERTY on screen keyboard
iGuidance 3.0 before modification

iGuidance 3.0 with iG(Q)werty

This is another fine iGuidance modification by lostreception. He just introduced his iG(Q)werty. It works for the UMPC/CarPC version. Read more: >> click here << |

I have no idea if this method would work on a PPC PDA or how to edit shortcut properties on a PPC. Marvin Hlavac
I got it to work on my PPC using a program called AE Button Plus by putting "iGuidanceQVGA.exe" for "Run Application" and "nowarning" (no quote) for "Optional Parameters"
Marvin, can you post this info on Mp3car.com to benefit other people too? |

jackleung- Thanks for sharing that tip! AE Button Plus seems like a very useful application that can be used to assign several tasks to even a single hardware button based on how we press it (single press, double press, triple press, or long press).
Note:
1. AE Button Plus should be installed in the main memory of your device.
2. Don't choose iGuidance from the drop down menu of AE Button Plus. That would not work, because that would point only to the iGuidance.lnk file. Instead, click the browse button to the right of the drop-down menu, and navigate to the actual iGuidanceQVGA.exe file.
WARNING: The above is just a proof of concept. It is by no means intended to be instructions on how to disable the Warning window at the start of iGuidance. The iGuidance warning screen is there to remind drivers to keep their eyes on the road.

| I would like to be able to see my favorites on the maps like the POI's, and would like to be able to make custom icons for my favorites. I have been using this program for the last few days, I am going on a 2000 mile trip around MI this week and will be traveling from Escanaba, Saulte STE Marie, and 10 other locations throughout MI. What I have noticed so far as I have been planing my trip is there are no POI's in Saulte STE Marie. Also, is there a was to import custom POI's, example- I would like to have all the Home Depots, Lowes, and supply houses displayed on my screed. I am an electrical contractor and it is always nice to know where the closest place is to get material |

| iG 3.0 doesn't have such function and I'm not aware of a workaround. However, if you happen to use iGuidance on your laptop you could consider using Microsoft Streets & Trips for that function. Especially the new S&T 2007 version may prove to be very useful for you: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=68026 |

How do I replace these files?

Record your own voice prompts
Hi Meowmeow,
Welcome to GpsPasSion Forums!
Yes, it is indeed possible to create your own voice files and use them instead of the existing iGuidance sounds. Technically it is easy; the only difficult part is to find a person who has a nice voice appropriate for this project. I like the original iGuidance female sound of both the North American and also the European version. (Hmm, actually the European version lady talks a bit too slow for my liking ;-)
All that you need to do is to replace the original sound files *.wav located in the following folders on PC or PocketPC.
iGuidance North America: \Program Files\iNav\iGuidance\Snd
iGuidance Europe: \Program Files\iNav\iGuidance Europe\Snd
You will need software for recording and editing sounds. A free one is available for download here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
If you manage to create something that you feel is even better than the original iGuidance voice, please share it with us!
