No, and I never even put much thought into it. I keep my POI icons off at all times.

It is interesting that in Streets & Trips I keep all POI icons on, but in iGuidance I keep them all off. It may be due to several reasons:

1. S&T POI icons are nicer looking,

2. iGuidance icons somehow look like they don't belong there

3. S&T icon text is of just the right size

4. iGuidance POI icon text is too big and it stands out too much. It just looks like it doesn't belong there

Well, but you were not really asking how I feel about iGuidance POI icons ;-) You just wanted to know if someone knew answer to your question ;-)

(Btw, the latest rumor is that there will be a downloadable NEW THEME.INI on Monday, Oct.24, 2005, at inavcorp.com ;-)

And now let’s bring this thread back on topic...

Michael <wiredwrx2> just discovered "the hard way" that the newest iGuidance 2.1.1 requires CTHEME.INI file to be named again THEME.INI

Version number / *.ini name required

iGuidance 2.0 / THEME.INI

iGuidance 2.0.1 / THEME.INI

iGuidance 2.0.2 / CTHEME.INI

iGuidance 2.1 / CTHEME.INI

iGuidance 2.1.1 / THEME.INI

iGuidance 2.1.2 / THEME.INI

Thanks Michael!

2.1.3 also uses theme.ini

RBasil Thanks, I will add the 2.1.3 version info there. Also I will have to download it tomorrow. It is now available for download it seems along with a new THEME.INI ;-)

Change Background Color

Now we finally know how thanks to the new THEME.INI which was made by the good guys at Intellinav/Netropa and made available by Inav Corporation.

Download the full THEME.INI @ http://inavcorp.com/support/downloads.php

Let's look at the code for changing background color:

; map background color (day night)
MBC0=255,220,128 0,0,96
MBC1=192,192,192 64,64,64
MBC2=255,255,255 0,0,0
MBC3=255,128,255 128,0,128

MBC0, MBC1, MBC2, and MBC3 represent the four iGuidance color themes. For example MBC2 is the White color theme, 255,255,255 is the RGB value of white color used during the day, and 0,0,0 is RGB value of black color which is used at night. Change the RGB values to any color you desire (match the color of your car, etc).

Well, nothing new to add to the page #9 list, but we now at least finally know how to use the Map Background Color (MBC) function. There may still be something else we may learn, we just have to take the time to experiment with it. (But I have now a few other projects I have been postponing for a while that need my attention. This will have to wait a few weeks.)

Well, if anyone learns how to change the street font COLOR, please post it here. That is the only thing I need to make a nice "night" mode to match my orange/amber layout...

Change street name text color

PURDooM over at MP3.com did us all a big favor today. He found a way to change street name text color! That is useful even for people who don’t really intend to change map background color to something exotic. Even when we use the default iGuidance map background colors, the street names at night use greenish color which is not very attractive and it is not even easy to read.

I just changed the green text to white:

Here is PURDooM describing how he did it:

1. Get a hex editor. I like http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm . Open your iguidance executable.

2. Do a search for hex value A0 FF A0 - it should only appear in iguidance once. In my copy of 2.1 NA it appears at address 77A23.

3. Thats your color. The first value is red, second green, third blue. Just type in whatever hex values you want. (ex just red = FF,00,00)

4. Save

Here is the link to the forum post where PURDooM shares this idea: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=653569&postcount=18

Not much to add. Just a big word of thanks to PURDooM on behalf of all of us who are going to implement this little tweak ;-)

Here is a nice on-line color palette if you need to get color hex values: http://www.guistuff.com/tools/css/colorhex.htm

Did you see what happens to your DAY text after you change the night text color?

I see no difference. But you likely changed the night to some other color than me. Did changing night street name font color affected day street name font color?

Yup. It made it green for me! Seems like best option is to make the night color = FF FF FF (night) which in turn makes the day color = 'a very dark shade of purple' (almost black). Works for me.

My very very old 21" CRT monitor at home is getting pretty bad and my night street font looks black, even though you say it really is very dark shade of purple (almost black). I'll have a look at it tomorrow at work on a "normal" monitor LOL ;-)

Ive been reading this thread with interest, and started making modifications to my theme.ini file, first on my desktop using the XP version, and then transferring the theme.ini file over to my Axim X51 once I get everything the way I like it..

Only one problem -- it seems that support for theme.ini has been removed from the WM 5.0 version of iGuidance 2.1.3..

On the desktop, there are two installer files for PPC in C:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance:

iGuidance2003.PPC300_2577.CAB
and
iGuidance2005.PPC300_2577.CAB

Browsing through the executable iGuidanceQVGA.exe that gets installed for Mobile 2003 with a hex editor, the variables that can be set in the theme.ini file are there and after installing that version on my WM5 handheld, it seems it utilizes my theme.ini file...

However, the executable iGuidanceQVGA.exe that gets installed for Mobile 2005 is missing all of those variables, and my theme.ini file is completely ignored. Renaming it to ctheme.ini doesn't change anything..

So for those of you, like me, that thought they would like to customize their 2.1.3 on their Windows Mobile 5.0 device, it looks like we're either out of luck, or will need to wait until they add the function back into the program (I hope they do -- these colors have to go!)

Also -- in case any of you were asking why I just dont use the 2003 version of 2.1.3 on my PPC -- it has display issues on WM5, and the bottom portion of the screen is cut off.

Rick

Change road color

I'm mixing the looks of Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006's "Night Mode" in my 2.1.2 iGuidance. Note that the GPS icon was extracted from my Streets & Trips 2006 ! The background is actually a very dark green, and I see the default green color of the fonts in iGuidance is actually a blessing when it matches perfectly with the green theme. I like the 20pt font that Marvin suggested, make my life easier reading at 200m altitude on a 12" screen:

Here's my Day Mode:

; day map road pen color FC1-2-3-4-5
; to use same colors for all zoom levels only specify DMRPC(max)

My customized theme for the above look is posted here (for iGuidance v2.1.2 only!):

Use at your own risk ...

Note that I cannot post the MS GPS icons (which were modified to change colors depending on the signal strength) due to copyright, but you get the rough idea ...

[Edit] Dumpper I just added the red title and resized the pictures ;-)

Dumpper, you completely confused me last night LOL ;-) I just kept staring at the night picture and I thought I was looking at MS Streets & Trips and I was wondering why it was posted in iGuidance Customization thread!!!

Excellent work!
