Yes there's been some confusion here, as it came out after WM5.0 had been announced, I think everyone was counting on the fact it would be upgradeable and HP didn't really deny at first. Not a problem by me, I don't need permanent storage as I dock it each evening and I've found WM5.0 units to be really slow at times (X50v, Mio A201, etc...). By the way, it seems the 6715 will be called the 6915 in fact.

Updated 02/03 : V1.28 is no longer available on the Globallocate site so I checked on its status and apparently they're looking at getting a new version out later this month that fixes the accuracy issues (see the article on the portal) that hadn't been addressed in v1.28, so that's good news. Those who want to experiment can still use the v1.27 available here and that I understand is very similar to v1.28.
No upgrade no it seems at this point, honestly from what I've seen from WM5.0 on my Dell x50v (think sluggish operation and less available memory), I'm fine with that ;-) As for WiFi operation hard to tell until the 6915 is out, but SD and miniSD WiFi cards have proved they work well.
By the way, here's a scoop : Globallocate have just launched a new mobile set and you can download the new v1.28 gps drivers over there : http://www.globallocate.com/mobile/home.html ;-)
"Changes made from v1.19 to v1.28 Improved sensitivity Fixed altitude problem of updating too slowly "

Hello, I'm trying to download the new v1.28 gps drivers over the internet address 'http://www.globallocate.com/mobile/home.html' but I always obtain an error 'page not found'. I've tried with the global locate home page (www.globallocate.com) and is not working... Can anyone put a link to download the new v1.28 gps drivers or put the files in the forum? Thank you!

I've found the problem, the correct web address is www.globalocate.com/mobile/home.html . However, when you click in that web page, there is no a link to download the new v1.28 gps drivers, there is only a message that says "New downloads coming soon! Stay tuned for exciting new performance enhancements and feature additions. Please re-visit this site periodically for latest updates".
Can anyone tell me how or where can I download the new v1.28 gps drivers? Thank you! |

| I use ipaq navagation and with this update the software would not connect.I called hp then navteq to find out what was going on last week with there gps software.they were cluless.i then went back to my preinstalled tomtom on my ipaq and this 1.28 fix worked perfect.global may have pulled the 1.28 because the lack of connectivty with the hp navagation software or were made to pull it by hp. |

Haven't experienced that from here, all programs connect as they used to, might be some other conflicts at play. In fact I just checked with Globallocate on the status of v1.28 and apparently they're looking at getting a new version out later this month that fixes the accuracy issues (see the article on the portal) that hadn't been addressed in v1.28, so that's good news. | navteq/hp recreated the lack of connection issue with there gps software when on the phone with there teck.they downloaded the 1.28 with the same result.I find that more then likely to be the resion for the pull.using the tomtom with 1.28 fix,s all accuracy isses.it just a patch with some glitchs not letting hp navagtion software connect.im just going to keep using tomtom till global releases the new update getting better conection with ipaq nav |

Well I'm using that setup myself so I'm not sure why they couldn't, again it must be some kind of conflict, anyway, v1.28 is history ;-)

Hi all iPAQ 65xx users,
I am new on this forum and reading posts and articles I have learned a lot about this beautiful small business toy! I can see that many of you are looking for Global Locate v1.28 driver, so I have found the way to share it! Here is link from where you can download:
http://rapidshare.de/files/13343720/global_locate_v1.28.zip.html
The password for zip file is: looka
There is possibility to change GPS expires time from 2 to 4 days. Use some registry editor and change next following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Global Locate\Lto Manager\Files
RemotePath_0="2day/latest/lto.that" RemotePath_1="2day/latest/svstatus.txt"
to
RemotePath_0="4day/latest/lto.that" RemotePath_1="4day/latest/svstatus.txt"
I found my iPAQ working much better with 1.28 instead 1.19! Even I drive Renault Laguna II with special front window glass with some layer so GPS signal cannot go through! With this driver version and Tom Tom 5.21 everything seams to work just fine. The only problem I have is with some local navigation software from local company. The software is great, but with 1.28 it’s impossible to find GPS device! So might happen that some others GPS software can have same problem.
Anyway, what I want to ask, if someone knows what standard is back GPS connector for external antenna! I would like to test device with external antenna as well!
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. No GPS connector, no, you'll need a reradiating antenna. One way I've found to connect to the GPS with some programs that don't normally work is using GPSGate.
