CUSTOMIZING THE MEDION 150

Thank you for the excellent article. I have converted my PNA 150 into a WIN CE terminal. It works great.

How do you set up the time to 24 hour status instead of the AM/PM

(i managed too get the lady speak in my language, but i want main-menu and mp3-player NOT in German)

If you have not done this yet, Do a hard boot by switching the unit to the "off" position on the back, switch back to "On". Turn on the unit using the front panel. There will be a screen that will ask you for you language. Select the one you want. You may need the CD with your language but normally not.

Hi,
your documentation was very good and it works very fine on my Medion MD95900.
Have you already tried to install the acrobat reader or microsoft reader ?
The installation was ok but the reader did not work.
The following message appears:
Cannot find 'Acrobat Reader or msreader' (or one of its component). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available'
I've copied your packDLL.zip and packDLLxania.zip but it did not work on my Windows CE .NET 4.2 !!
Now the error Messages appears say : Acrobat Reader is not a Windows CE Version, but it is. Same with the microsoft reader.
Do you have some idea what's wrong ? Do you have the DLL's for my Windows Version ?
Where is the cmd.exe file to use the copy command in a ... .bat file ?

greatings
Dieter

Welcome to the forums.
Thanks for the kind words. I don't think anyone's managed to get Acrobat Reader to work, no, it probably requires other dll's that are not in these zip's or there is possibly some hard coding at play. You did put the .dll's in the /windows/ directory, right ?

Hi
I've got the Medion MDPNA 200, and I've just done the customizing
following your brilliant description. It worked great up until I
tried to load BananaPC. It didn't want to recognize the program, so
I tried copying the .dll's you mentioned. It wouldn't let me copy the
aygshell.dll because of sharing violation, and the others were there
from before (I did replace those though). Now the problem is that I
can't get to the start menu any longer. Tried putting a shortcut to
the showtaskbar on the desktop, and eventhough I now at least can see
a thin grey line, I still don't get into the start menu. What do I do?

Regards
Steinar

Hi again
Since I posted this I have been able to occasionally get to the start menu, but it's very much hit and miss.
Any help out there?

Regards
Steinar

What do you mean by "occasionally" ? It could be a calibration problem that prevents you from having that bar pop up. For BananaPC you need to soft reset after installing.

Hi

The taskbar seems to be more cooperative now so that is sorted.
Still, I get an error message when trying to start BananaPC. It says:
"iBananaPC is not a valid Windows CE application".
Any ideas on that one?

Hi,
New to forum - excellent stuff - keep it up!

I am thinking of buying a Medion PNA 200 - what I need to know is that once I convert (using your guide) to access the underlying WinCE OS, will I be able to access the Contacts app like I can on a normal Pocket PC. I currently have a Dell Axim X30 and a Fortuna Bluetooth setup with Navigon.

However, I find that I only use the Axim for Navigon and for synchronizing my contact details with Outlook. I dont really use it for any other purpose. Therefore I am thinking of selling off the Axim and Fortuna and just getting a PNA 200 to replace it all and make my life easier when using GPS.
Will I still be able to sync my Outlook with the PNA 200? Or is that asking too much?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
