Yes, "Save As Template" should take care of that, too. (Described in Tips & Tricks, tip #6 titled: "Customize how Streets & Trips opens".)

A brief search on Pharos and eBay websites found nothing, but you may try to e-mail Pharos for help. Or for a bit more money you could even buy one of the much more powerful GPS receivers based on the newer SiRFstarIII chipset (like this one: http://semsons.com/is3usbgpsres.html )

Hi all, thanks for all the tips! but for some reason, my S&T 2006 is acting up. on the map, it is able to display my location properly but the voice direction is about 50 yards behind? usually when I am about 20 ft from the intersection the voice direction will tell me "in 60 yard make a xxxx turn" Is there any way to calibrate it? Thanks for your input.

I enjoyed your post about S&T 2006 but I would like to add some helpful advice.
Share one GPS between several applications.
I saw you mention GpsGate to share GPS with several applications, but there is also a free proram to do so.
It is called Xport and it is located here (it is made by a GPS and car fan on another forum site): http://curioustech.home.insightbb.com/xport.html
I have used Xport to share GPS with S&T 2006 and iGuidance v2.1.3. I have not used GpsGate before so I do not know if Xport is harder or easier to setup. Xport lets you turn one GPS port into 8 GPS ports and allows you to set the port speed. (Normaly I used 4800 Baud because my GPS does not like the other speeds.)
I hope this is helpful for everyone. |

I used to use Xport some while ago, but it crashed my system sometimes. Also it did not "clean" the XP registry properly when adding/removing the ports & itself ! Hopefully things are better now for other users ... I switched to GPSGate & have been a happy camper since ... |

Two most recent additions to the page 1 are:
* How to search for highway exit numbers
* How to run Streets & Trips on an Apple Mac computer |

| I have a correction to make. To change the default find location in Windows XP with Streets and Trips 2006 to Canada or back you must modify the New North American Map template (New North American Map.stt). For instruction please refer to tip #7. |

I'm not sure about that, though. A few versions ago occasionally I would come across a user asking how to make Canada the default country in the Find dialog box. Those days it was necessary to change the default language settings of your Windows operating system (as described in S&T Tips & Tricks - section 2004).
I don't recall any user asking how to do this in the past couple of years. It seems to me that now Streets & Trips remembers the country of the last successful search. |

Pushpin problems:
When I copy pushpins one by one from a map to another one, evrything works well and my pushpins comments are also copy. When a copy a pushpin set from a map to another one, all my pushpins comments are lost. Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? |

| I've never seen it happen myself, but I don't think you are doing anything wrong :( |

Regarding the AutoRoute vehicle speed settings (for AR2010). I drive a motorhome (RV) and find the speed settings way too fast, even with all sliders set to the slowest settings! I have seen a download for Map Point, that reinstates the much simpler and clearer facility it shared with earlier versions of Map Point and AutoRoute, to input actual average driving speeds based on experience. Why do they meddle?!! Does anyone please know if such a download available for AR2010 from any reliable source (even MS :-)!) Many thanks. |

| Hi Brian, ask the developer of the tool about the compatibility with Mappoint 2010. The tool was originally made for version 2006. Or just download it, and then test it for youself: http://www.mapping-tools.com/drivespeed/index.shtml |
