Dave,
Try the following:
1. Increase the Screen Resolution setting in Display Properties to the maximum. Different computers may allow for different maximum setting, so if you have more than one computer at home you may do it on the one that can display the highest resolution.
2. Start S&T, maximize its window, close all unnecessary toolbars and panes, center the map to show your route, and set you desired zoom level. (Do not worry that you don't see the whole route displayed on the monitor after zooming in.)
3. On the S&T menu bar select File > "Save as webpage", and specify 3,500 x 3,500 pixels as map size.
4. After saving it, open the folder in which it was saved, and view the newly created image_map.gif file.
That is the largest area S&T will capture. If you would like to capture even larger map area you may send a quick e-mail to Michael R. Mattys of Mattys Consulting ( www.mattysconsulting.com ). He charges for his services, but he can do it (and much more). He will capture an area you specify at the needed zoom level and he will either send you the image file and/or print. He does work with MS Streets & Trips, MS AutoRoute, and MS MapPoint.

Marvin:
That worked! It actually works better than I expected because even though the street names are very small, they have great resolution, and there's a lot less clutter on the map. That was a big help.
Thanks for taking the time to help out,

Bob:
Happy to share. I am very pleased with the final queue sheet/map. Thanks to Marvin, here's the link to the semi-finished product. I'll be happy to send you the other routes in their finished form by email if you like.

Nice. Hey, how about offering the routes as waypoint files in a format that would allow them to upload to a GPS. I take my old Garmin Emap on bike rides. It would be cool to be able to upload the routes into a GPS for the ride.

Marvin, I followed your instructions to change the color of my map for night time driving. I saved that version as night map because my modifications changed both my day time and night time maps. Is there a way to keep my day time map like it is and only change the night map? I did my changes with the night time map selected.
Thanks

Rick, I'm not sure which modifications you have done exactly, but likely you are right and the only help may be to just save one file which will be used for night driving.
By the way, recently there was an item added to Tips & Tricks regarding perhaps a better alternative for night driving color scheme. It involves a 3rd party free software which will change gamma of your display just by hitting a hotkey on your keyboard. Read more under tip # 8 titled "Night color scheme alternatives".

Thanks Marvin, I will look at the third party software and see what it gives me. Cheers

Mr. Hlavac, It would appear that you may be the best person to answer this question for me: I have just purchased Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006, and I want to import a spreadsheet database that contains 16,237 golf courses in the United States. (link below) http://www.coursedatabase.com
The question I have is, once I import this data, will it automatically show up in the "golf courses nearby" feature when I drive though a state? Or do I have to import them as pushpins and save it as a "Golf Course Map Template" ? Or.... is there a better way to do this that I'm not aware of?
Thanks for any help that you can give me.
Jim

Hi Jim, I'm afraid all I can do is assure you that what you see is what you get :-( It would be nice to be able to add our own POI's (Points of Interest), but in the absence of that feature all we can do is use the pushpins. The bad news is that your pushpins will not be among the other "built-in" golf courses in the "Find Nearby" feature. The bad news also is that pushpins are always visible at all zoom levels, etc. A good news is that you may use the "Find" feature (Ctrl:F, Place/Data) to search for one of the 16,237 golf courses if needed ;-)

Marvin, Thanks for your response, that really helps with my decision to either purchase this database or not. One follow-up question.... if I imported this database and saved it as a separate map with pushpins (which I assume you can do?), could I then open up that map whenever I wanted to see the courses in the state where I'm driving?
Thanks, Jim

Yes, and I suspect most users do just that (save a map file with pushpins & open it only when you need the golf courses). Otherwise you would see the pushpins even when you don't need them and the map could look cluttered and unsightly ;-)

Yes, that's what I do.
I'm a Scottish based, European Truck driver. I have imported the Truckstop database by Ossie and set the truckstops as green tacks. I then add new ones as I go. I have all the deliveries and collections I do on the same map, saved as black pushpins. (By the way, how can I export my updated truckstop database, so that I can pass it on to this site?) This set up gives me all the info I need to arrange my route to take into account where I might want to stop for the night as I am touring Europe.

Simon, for ways to export pushpins check Tips & Tricks, tip # 24 titled: "Export to other formats (Garmin, Excel, etc)".
